The position
As a Field Coordinator for Migration & Safety, you will coordinate the referral of people with complex and multiple issues to appropriate assistance and support. These are individuals who are often the subject of serious concerns, who sometimes cause disturbances, and who usually do not seek help on their own. You will oversee the processes involving these clients, people sleeping rough, and individuals causing disturbances in public spaces.
You will work with various target groups at the intersection of migration, safety, and social services. This includes, for example, refugees from Ukraine, people without valid residency documents, or individuals causing disturbances. The specific target group may vary from case to case. You will closely monitor these individuals and actively intervene when issues arise—whether related to healthcare, shelter, safety, or residency status. You take initiative based on signals or your own observations, always coordinating carefully with all relevant partners, such as shelter organizations, healthcare institutions, the police, and the municipality.
In addition, you will screen clients with complex issues throughout the city, develop new collaborative initiatives, and participate in meetings within the Social Care cluster.
What makes this role so special?
A colleague says: “The work is varied and hands-on. You solve complex cases, collaborate with many organizations, and spend a lot of time on-site. This allows you to see what’s happening and influence policy and implementation. You have a lot of freedom to organize your own work.”
Here's what you do on an average day
- Process management for target groups within the Migration & Security sectors.
- Chair meetings of healthcare and field committees.
- Case management for complex and/or (urban) deadlocked cases.
- Advising and supporting partners in the supply chain across various fields.
- Identifying bottlenecks in the mental health care system and, where possible, taking action when bottlenecks arise, such as long waiting lists or complex cases.
- Actively participate in meetings aimed at resolving structural bottlenecks in healthcare chains.
