Thomas More University of Applied Sciences is seeking:A Science and Technology Education Specialist (biology and/or physics instructor) for the elementary school teacher training program(0.5–0.8 FTE).
Job Description
We are seeking a subject-matter expert
in Science and Technology Education to teach subject-specific pedagogy, skills, and content
to our students in the elementary education program. Because science education
in elementary school combines multiple disciplines, you must be at least
an expert in one of the following fields: biology, physics, technology, or
chemistry. These disciplines are taught in an integrated manner alongside subject-specific pedagogy
for elementary school teachers. Knowledge of or experience
with the pedagogy of science education in elementary school is a plus. Preferably, you
are also available to take on other tasks, such as guiding students in their
professional development and in hands-on learning at elementary schools. We
place a strong emphasis on outdoor education and inquiry-based & design-based
learning. In the coming academic year, we will also be offering instruction in our newly constructed Outdoor Lab.
This allows our students to experience the added value of outdoor education even more fully and
grow into independent-minded, worldly—and therefore sustainable—
teachers.
Job Requirements
You are skilled at guiding groups of students and know how to share your expertise with students and the professional community in an inspiring way.
