BRUIS Neighborhood Coordinator

JOB TITLE

What will you be doing?

Over the next ten years, BRUIS will be active in the neighborhood—and you can be a part of it from the very beginning! We are currently in the project’s launch phase: a time when we’re building, experimenting, and shaping many things. Your commitment and ideas are essential to this process.

As a BRUIS Neighborhood Coordinator, you’ll be the familiar face in the neighborhood. You’ll connect residents, professionals, and partners, and turn the BRUIS Pop-up into a lively and welcoming community space. Residents know where to find you—whether they want to share an idea, organize an activity, or just have a friendly chat. You’ll listen, identify needs, and bring people and initiatives together.

Specifically, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, such as:

• (co-)organizing neighborhood activities and gatherings;
• supporting participatory processes and resident-led initiatives;
• organizing information sessions and panel discussions;
• maintaining contact with local organizations, partners, and residents.

You will work closely with the BRUIS Project Manager and the Communications Coordinator. Together, you will ensure that residents feel seen, heard, and involved in their neighborhood. Thanks to your dedication, BRUIS will grow into the vibrant heart of the neighborhood—a place where connection, collaboration, and fun take center stage.

Who are you?

• You live in or are very familiar with The Hague Southwest—you know where the strengths and challenges lie
• You easily connect with and facilitate communication between residents and professionals. With your energy and creativity, you get the neighborhood moving
• You’ll be visible and serve as the point of contact at the BRUISPop-ups—the neighborhood gathering spots
• You don't have a 9-to-5 mindset; flexibility is a plus
• You know what's going on and translate that into activities for the residents
• You take initiatives that promote social connection, resilience, and health
• You encourage local residents to get involved and help build a strong community
• You can connect residents with local organizations and agencies

What do you bring to the table?

• You have a high school diploma or equivalent, with experience in neighborhood-based work, community building, or social projects
• You are sociable, a strong communicator, and have a natural talent for bringing people together and inspiring them
• You have strong organizational skills: you keep track of everything and ensure that activities run smoothly
• You are independent and proactive, but you also enjoy working with others

WHAT WE OFFER

What do we offer?

• a meaningful role at the heart of the neighborhood, with plenty of room for initiative; As a BRUIS Neighborhood Coordinator, you will primarily work on-site in The Hague Southwest
• A one-year contract from Longfonds specifically for this project, for 24–32 hours per week (subject to mutual satisfaction and sufficient funding within the project, there may be an opportunity for extension)
• a salary in the range of €2,700–€3,831 based on a 36-hour workweek
• attractive employee benefits, such as a 13th month’s salary, a phone allowance, a pension plan, and a wellness budget
• Full reimbursement of travel expenses for public transportation or cycling

BRUIS is a community-driven initiative by Longfonds and MIND, in collaboration with residents, partners, and existing neighborhood programs.
