The Zaanstreek Secondary Education Partnership (SVZ) is looking to fill a position as soon as possible
2 teachers to serve as mentors for Customized Programs for at least three days a week (0.6 – 1
(FTE).
Quality education for every young person
All secondary (special) education schools operated by school boards active in the Zaan region are affiliated with SVZ. In addition, we collaborate with primary schools in the Zaan region and the Primary Education Partnership. We also work closely with the municipalities of Zaanstad, Wormerland, and Oostzaan, as well as with various organizations in the field of youth services.
Our Vision
All young people have the right to a quality and appropriate education. For some students, this means they need extra support. Within our partnership, school boards in the Zaan region work together to provide the best possible educational environment for all students in the region.
The Center for Special Education and Instructional Support for Inter-School Programs
SVZ’s Orthopedagogical and Didactic Center (OPDC) provides support and education for students who have difficulties with learning and/or social-emotional functioning. The goal is to help students return to mainstream secondary education as quickly as possible.
The current range of inter-school services includes: the Knowledge and Expertise Center for Appropriate and Inclusive Education, the Time Out Placement Program, the Zaanstreek Vocational Preparation Support Program, and the Customized Programs.
Customized Program
The customized program is designed for students who are at risk of dropping out or have already dropped out of mainstream education and who need a period of time (three months to a maximum of one year) to return. They benefit from a tailored educational program with intensive support to prevent (long-term) dropout or a transition to special education.
In addition, we help the student with planning and organizing, and work with the student on
reducing fear of failure, building resilience, promoting self-reliance, managing aggression, and developing social skills. We are supported in this by a school psychologist, a remedial educator, and a social worker. We meet the needs of the region, which means we are open to continuous improvement and provide tailored services.
