About Fair Future Generators (FFG) 

Fair Future Generators is Milieudefensie’s premier volunteer youth traineeship. FFG is part of the Social Service Program. Fair Future Generators gives young people from all backgrounds the chance to make the world (and themselves) a little better. For four months, participants spend one or two days a week working alongside a green organization and receive training on topics such as activism, organizing, and climate justice.

What will you be doing?

• You will organize and develop FFG’s program: from training weekends and days to inspiring meetups.
• You conduct training sessions and help organize events and program components.
• Together with your teammates, you’ll discuss whether the program is on track and help improve processes and results.
• You will manage Milieudefensie’s group of volunteer trainers and serve as their point of contact.
• Together with your colleagues in the Movement Building department, you’ll work to build a climate movement that everyone can join. It doesn’t matter what your background, education, age, or sexual orientation is.

Who do you work with?

Of course, you don’t come up with the best youth activities all on your own. The team consists of a project leader, a process facilitator, a communications officer, a training coordinator (you), three organizers, and an education coordinator. You’ll work closely with the organizers, who provide ongoing guidance and coaching to the young people throughout their FFG program.

What does your day look like?

You start the day by answering questions from volunteers. The training weekend is coming up, so most of the questions are about that. You’ll check in with the trainers who will be leading the sessions.

At 10:00 a.m., you’ll have a daily kickoff meeting with your team. You’ll share updates on the preparations for the weekend and discuss any challenges you’re facing.

Next—while enjoying a cup of coffee—you’ll have a phone call with the speaker for the upcoming inspiration evening. Together, you’ll discuss the evening’s program and make sure everything goes smoothly.

After lunch, you’ll have a meeting with the FFG regional organizers. Attendance at the last online meetup was low. Together, you’ll come up with a plan to ensure that more participants attend the event.

This afternoon, you’ll call the venue for the training weekend. Last time, there was an issue with the quiet room. You improvised then to ensure there was still a quiet space available for participants who needed it. You want to make sure this is properly arranged this time.

You’re also already looking for a venue for the upcoming training day. So you wrap up the day by sending emails to potential venues.

• A one-year contract with the option to extend.
• A salary ranging from €2,696 to €4,147 for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience. At Milieudefensie, this is a 37.5-hour workweek.
