Being able to read, speak, and write Dutch well is essential for fully participating in society. But knowing how to use a computer, tablet, or smartphone is also a basic skill that you need to master. The number of people with low literacy skills in Apeldoorn accounts for 11% of the total population. This includes both native Dutch speakers and non-native speakers. The Taalhuis Apeldoorn aims to reduce low literacy and to strengthen and expand language, math, and digital skills. The Taalhuis has a physical location in the CODA Central Library and offers an extensive program in collaboration with its partners. We are currently seeking a Taalhuis instructor for the Taalhuis.
You & the Language House
As a Taalhuis instructor, you work with colleagues and partners to ensure that people seeking language and digital skills be referred to appropriate support as soon as possible. You are creative and enterprising, and you think outside the box. You actively engage with the target audience to identify their needs and develop solutions. You preferably have a background in education, Experience teaching and providing coaching support to adults with low literacy skills (NT1/NT2) and volunteers. You are an open, helpful, and communicative person who listens to others’ learning needs and actively seeks the best solution. You are comfortable approaching organizations, schools, stores, recreational facilities, potential partners, and workplaces where the target group is employed. You actively engage in conversation to identify the need and propose a solution. The quality of the program offered by the Taalhuis and the personal results that can be achieved are our top priority.
