Our museum

The Amsterdam Museum (AM) is Amsterdam’s premier city museum, telling the story of the city’s past, present, and future. We foster insight, wonder, and connection among visitors and residents. For the coming years, the Amsterdam Museum has an ambitious agenda featuring major projects such as multiple exhibitions at our temporary home in the Hermitage Amsterdam and at Huis Willet-Holthuysen, as well as innovative museum projects at various locations throughout the city. For our main location, the former Burgerweeshuis complex on Kalverstraat, the AM is preparing for a large-scale and extensive renovation. In addition, the AM manages the museum canal house on Herengracht, Huis Willet-Holthuysen, and in Amsterdam-Noord, the Collection Center (depot) and an office and storage building on Disketteweg.

Your role

As a Building Management Supervisor, you are responsible for developing a long-term maintenance strategy and managing the facilities and buildings to ensure they consistently meet the evolving needs of users, comply with laws and regulations, and meet sustainability requirements. You will ensure that maintenance plans are up to date and oversee the organization and execution of maintenance tasks in our buildings. As a building manager, you are responsible for balancing the needs of users, the owner, and suppliers. In this role, your leadership in consultations with colleagues and contractors regarding planning and execution methods is essential. Additionally, you serve as a sparring partner during the preparation phase of exhibition construction. The renovation of the Burgerweeshuis location entails a complete redesign of all aspects of management, both policy-related and technical. You will therefore stay informed of all current developments so that you can provide expert input. Your responsibilities will also include energy policy, fire safety, various technical systems, and occupational health and safety matters.

We are looking for a colleague,

who, as a Facilities Management Supervisor, sees opportunities and challenges. Someone for whom flexibility, creativity, and safety are top priorities. You bring the necessary technical and financial knowledge and expertise to the table, and you’re used to taking the lead. With a hands-on approach, you’re willing to tackle any tasks that come your way. Due to the long-term nature of the renovation project, we are looking for someone who is committed to the development of our new location. Both experienced candidates and juniors who can develop on the job are warmly invited to apply.
