The Performing Arts Fund is the cultural fund for music, theater, musical theater, dance, and festivals in the Netherlands. On behalf of the national government, the Fund provides support for all forms of professional performing arts.
Our organization is committed to fostering a vibrant performing arts scene that appeals to as wide an audience as possible and is firmly rooted in society. We do all this while supporting artists and performers from diverse genres and with varied perspectives.
The Performing Arts Fund provides multi-year support, various programming and production grants, individual grants, and programs designed to encourage new initiatives. In addition, the Fund is involved in the international promotion of Dutch performing arts.
The organization consists of more than 70 full-time employees and a large pool of external consultants. In addition to grant consultants (writers), secretaries, and the department head, grant coordinators are part of the grant administration department.
We believe in the power of diversity—including diversity of gender, age, and cultural background—and therefore welcome candidates who help make our organization more inclusive.
As a grant coordinator, you will help administer grants to applicants, such as producers, individual performing artists, venues, and festivals. Grant applications are submitted in rounds. You will be responsible for ensuring that the entire grant round—from processing the application to sending out the decision—runs smoothly.
In the role of grant coordinator:
- In consultation with a secretary, you will lead the team of writers, external consultants, and administrative staff to ensure that all applications in the current round are processed on time and to the agreed-upon quality standards. The administrative staff member will assist you in developing and monitoring the process and schedule;
- Make sure that the knowledge and skills of the various writers are showcased;
- You ensure that committee meetings run smoothly and oversee the accurate formulation of the committee’s opinion in an advisory document that is clearly written and well-reasoned.
- Your profile
- Open-minded, approachable, and friendly;
- Experienced in project-based work, coaching, and adapting to different styles;
- Strong writing and editing skills;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Up to date on trends and developments in the performing arts.
What do we offer?
- The opportunity to contribute to a vibrant performing arts scene at the heart of the Dutch cultural sector;
- One-year contract with the possibility of a permanent position;
- A workweek of 32 or 36 hours;
- Gross monthly salary in accordance with BBRA scale 11, ranging from €3,608.64 to €5,503.57 based on a 36-hour workweek. Your starting salary will depend on your experience;
- Thirteenth-month bonus, vacation pay, pension;
- You will work both from home and at the office;
- Good equipment for working from home, such as a chair, a Chromebook, and an iPhone;
- A professional yet informal work culture;
- Personal budget for attending performing arts events.
What would you like to tell us?
To ensure that all responses are evaluated fairly, we do not ask you to write a cover letter. Instead, please answer the questions below:

- In this role, it is important that you can help your colleagues meet deadlines. Can you give an example of a situation in which you had to work with others to complete multiple tasks at the same time, and had to motivate them to meet a deadline? Describe how you handled this situation, what helped you, and what you learned from it.
- In this role, you are responsible for ensuring the smooth running of a grant cycle from start to finish. Describe a project you led (including its key components) and the steps you took to ensure that the preparation, implementation, and completion went smoothly.
- To assess whether recommendations align well with regulations, you need strong analytical skills. Describe a situation in which, thanks to a clear analysis, you were able to make a sound strategic assessment of the best course of action. For example, a situation in which you were asked for advice or had to give your opinion. Please explain what sensitivities were involved and how you handled them.
