Digitalization has become an integral part of primary and secondary education. While the specifics vary, no school can function without a clear vision for ICT, digital learning resources, teachers with ICT skills, and a digital infrastructure. In the future, ICT will only become more important—including for education and for students. This places demands on administrators, school leaders, and teachers.
The PO-Raad and VO-Raad help ensure that administrators, school leaders, and their staff are aware of the opportunities that digitization offers their organizations, as well as the risks it entails—for example, regarding cybersecurity and privacy. We discuss these issues within the association and organize (professional development) activities. We also advocate for these interests with political, government, and private stakeholders. For example, in a number of programs funded by the Growth Fund. In these initiatives, we work closely with Kennisnet and SIVON.

The VO-Raad and PO-Raad are urgently seeking a strategist—someone who can maintain a broad perspective and, together with colleagues, the board, and members, develop approaches that will help elementary and secondary schools advance their digital transformation. This strategy focuses not only on content, but also on the process and governance of the ICT domain. Can we organize the playing field and the chain in such a way that it works optimally for schools and students? What else is needed to achieve this?
You will be part of the Councils’ Digitalization, Privacy, and Information Management team, which consists of a total of four policy advisors and a project team focused on promoting well-considered and secure digitalization.
The opportunity to make a crucial contribution to the core activities of the VO-raad and PO-Raad, and thereby to K-12 education in the Netherlands. You’ll be sitting at the table with all the key stakeholders in the sector when it comes to digitization and education. And you’ll gain demonstrable sector-specific knowledge of K-12 education.
You will be employed by the VO-raad and receive a one-year contract, with the possibility of a permanent position. The position is for 0.8–1 FTE. Depending on your experience, you will be placed in pay grade 12 or 13 (Collective Labor Agreement for Secondary Education).
