As an advisor, you play a crucial role in providing scientific and strategic policy advice to the government and parliament on climate policy. As a staff member of the Secretariat of the Scientific Climate Council (WKR), you will collaborate with council members on recommendations regarding major long-term climate issues. Your work will focus on a wide range of cross-domain and cross-sector climate issues.

You will be (jointly) responsible for drafting policy recommendations.
You will be involved with many different scientific disciplines. The WKR and its advisory services will draw on a wide range of expertise. You will also maintain contact with various government agencies. Administratively and organizationally, the WKR falls under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, but it operates autonomously and independently.
As a senior advisor, one of your first assignments will be to prepare a WKR advisory report for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy in preparation for the five-year Climate Plan (as referred to in the Climate Act). This advisory report will be published prior to the adoption of a new Climate Plan. Since the next Climate Plan is scheduled to be adopted in 2024, the Council’s first advisory report must be published by the end of 2023 at the latest.
This advice must be based on the latest scientific insights. At the same time, it is important that the advice takes into account different perspectives and societal values. To this end, you and your colleagues will collaborate with scientists and other advisors. You study scientific publications and stay abreast of the latest (technological) and societal developments. You contribute to high-quality, authoritative, and independent advice.

The WKR is seeking several senior advisors for its secretariat to help shape and implement its recommendations.
Salary level: Grade 11
Monthly salary: Min. €3,503 – Max. €5,343 (gross)
Employment status: Permanent employment contract
Minimum number of hours per week: 32
Maximum number of hours per week: 36
In addition to your salary, you will receive an Individual Choice Budget (ICB). The ICB consists of money (16.37% of your gross annual salary) and time.
