Senior Account Manager & Fundraiser

As a Senior Relationship Manager & Fundraiser, you will guide the development of our national network of partners, major donors, and foundations. You build long-term relationships that contribute to the social impact of the Nature and Environment Federations. You work both strategically and practically: you develop an approach to grow major gifts and partnerships, and implement it yourself. You write and develop proposals and applications, conduct meetings with (potential) donors, and know how to convincingly link our ambitions to their commitment. You also play a connecting role within the national network. You support, coach, and advise colleagues from the 12 provincial federations on fundraising and relationship management, and help strengthen and share knowledge and approaches.

You’ll be joining an organization that’s evolving. Growing major gifts is a clear strategic goal, which means you’ll have the freedom to build, experiment, and set the direction, but you’ll also be held accountable for results.

About the Nature and Environment Federations

Across the Netherlands, we inspire, connect, and empower people who want to build a society where green and healthy living, working, and daily life are the norm. By collaborating with local resident initiatives, supporting them, bringing them together, and, where necessary, devising new solutions ourselves, we demonstrate that there is another way. Together, we are paving the way toward a new normal. And we are making it clear all the way to the Cabinet: clean air, clean water, clean energy, healthy food, thriving outdoor spaces, and living landscapes.

The Nature and Environment Federations (NMF) serves as the national hub for 12 provincial federations where all our activities take place. We bring grassroots perspectives to the national level and strengthen collaboration among the 12 federations. In addition, we develop new programs and projects and provide a national platform and stage for our colleagues’ nature and environmental work. We actively focus on knowledge sharing and professional development so that we can make an even greater impact locally.

What are you going to do?  

Your main areas of focus are: 

• Fundraising from major donors and foundations for the Nature and Environment Federations.
• Drafting or co-drafting proposals and applications.
• Building and maintaining long-term relationships with these donors and foundations.
• Training, coaching, and supporting colleagues from the 12 provincial organizations in recruitment and relationship management.
• Developing private fundraising campaigns and writing funding proposals.

As part of the Nature and Environment Federations’ new strategy, we aim to increase the number of major donations. This means you won’t be landing in a cushy job. We’re looking for someone who thrives on building new initiatives and has a talent for getting people on board with our mission, both within and outside the organization.

What do you bring to the table?

Knowledge and experience:

• At least 5 years of experience in fundraising and relationship management, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
• A strong and active network within one of the target groups is a plus.
• Proven experience in independently building strategic relationships and partnerships.

Skills:

• A results-oriented organization.
• Excellent communication skills and a natural networker.  
• A commercial institution.
• A healthy dose of enthusiasm and drive to make a difference together with us!

• A gross monthly salary between €4,511 and €6,132 based on a 38-hour workweek (Pay Scale 8, Forestry and Nature Collective Bargaining Agreement). Salary will be determined based on experience.
• A separate employment contract providing for 6 weeks of vacation.
• A personal budget for well-being and personal development.
• A one-year contract with the intention of renewing it.
