Senior Project Controller

The Senior Project Controller plays a crucial role from the acquisition phase through to the completion of Berenschot’s projects. Throughout all phases of a project, you are expected to play an active role in project management. In addition to your strong analytical skills, you also demonstrate creativity in navigating the complex interplay of interests.

Once the project has been awarded, you will work with the six project administrators to take charge of financial and operational management. You will carefully analyze the reports and manage the financial and key compliance aspects that can make projects more complex and difficult to manage.

But you’re more than just an outstanding project controller. You also serve as a sounding board for the managing directors, project leaders, and project administrators, approaching challenges with a focus on possibilities and solutions. You impress not only with your expertise, but also with your understanding of the organization and the project.

Given the increasing complexity of the projects, you will focus specifically on the further development, optimization, and automation of project management processes. In addition, you will work on developing the knowledge and skills of your colleagues involved in these efforts.

What will you be doing?

As a senior project controller, you will provide functional leadership to a mid-level controller and six project administrators. You will have overall responsibility for the financial management of projects, including compliance with internal and external regulations.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and evaluating contracts for risks and feasibility in light of internal and external governance and accountability standards.
• Reviewing budgets to ensure they meet the client's requirements.
• Ensuring that project administration is accurate and properly organized.
• Monitoring expectations regarding costs, revenues, risks, and financial positions (work in progress and accounts receivable) for the various projects.
• Analyzing and discussing periodic reports with project managers and project administrators regarding the progress, costs, revenues, risks, and funding status of the various projects.
• Monitoring timelines and deadlines, and taking proactive action.
• Preparing and overseeing audits of project results.

Who do you work with?

You will work closely with project managers, project administrators, managing directors of the consulting groups, legal counsel, and colleagues in the finance department.

What are you bringing?

As the ideal candidate for this position, you will have:

• A bachelor’s or associate’s degree in finance or business administration, with knowledge of project management methodologies (such as Prince2) and VAT regulations
• at least five years of work experience in a similar role
• Experience in a project-based organization dealing with complex contract types and tenders
• the ability to adapt to and promote changing administrative processes
• experience with risk management.

In addition:

• You have strong analytical skills, are persuasive, and are results-oriented
• Are you driven to develop yourself and the organization?
• You can easily navigate various levels; you have a good sense of (internal) dynamics and are highly skilled at assessing situations.
