More about this organization
The World Wildlife Fund’s modern office building, featuring striking curved architecture, surrounded by water and greenery.

Would you like to work alongside passionate colleagues to create a world where people and nature thrive? And help build a “nature-positive” impact in the world’s most biodiverse landscapes by mobilizing people? That’s what you’ll be doing when you work at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF NL).

About WWF-NL

WWF-NL is a professional and dynamic organization with a casual work environment based in Zeist. The working languages at the office are English and Dutch.

The organization consists of the following departments: Conservation, Engagement, Organization & Talent Development, and Finance & Operations. To strengthen the Engagement department, we are seeking a Senior Project Manager for Public Funding (32–36 hours per week).

What will you be doing?

You will be joining the PSP & Foundations team, where you will raise funds for WWF projects with the Dutch government and the EU that aim to build a better world. As a Public Funding Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall coordination and quality control of project proposals submitted to public donors. You will identify trends and opportunities within the sector and initiate new partnerships. You will work closely with colleagues from other departments to develop compelling proposals for nature conservation projects (including budgets) that align with the donor’s needs and requirements. In addition to drafting proposals, you will also ensure that all relevant information is delivered in a timely, efficient, and high-quality manner.

Within the Public Sector Partnerships & Foundations team, we work together on projects and support one another as needed. As a project manager, you will report to the Head of Partnerships & Fundraising and work closely with colleagues from other teams within WWF-NL and the international WWF Network.

Who are you?

The role of Senior Project Manager for Public Funding aims to increase WWF’s revenue from public funding. To achieve this, it is important that you understand the donors and the requirements and processes involved in their funding. In addition, you excel at translating project ideas into substantively interesting and compelling proposals, which you develop and write both independently and in collaboration with colleagues. With your enthusiasm, energy, and drive to collaborate, you know how to engage and connect colleagues and other departments. Your focus allows you to set the right priorities and keep the organization’s goals on track. Together with the team, you keep each other on their toes and support one another where needed.

Job Requirements

  • At least 5–7 years of experience in institutional fundraising with governments and/or multilateral organizations. Ideally, with the Dutch government and the EU; experience in the NGO sector is a plus.
  • Experience in managing the entire process of grant proposals: identifying opportunities, forming consortia, proposal management, and proposal writing, in both English and Dutch;
  • Skilled at building new partnerships with development organizations and leveraging your own relevant network;
  • Knowledge of Dutch, European, and global policy and development agendas;
  • Knowledge and experience in project management, including budgeting and reporting;
  • You are proactive in building new partnerships with development organizations and bring your own relevant network to the table;
  • You have an interest in the sustainability sector and nature conservation;
  • You have an affinity for and experience working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds;
  • Excellent verbal and written command of Dutch and English.

Skills

  • Diplomatic and communication skills;
  • Project-based thinking and working;
  • A connector and team player;
  • Results-oriented and entrepreneurial.

Core Values

You identify with the core values of WWF Netherlands:

  • Courage
  • Integrity
  • Respect
  • Collaborate

What do we offer?

  • You'll be working in a sustainable office surrounded by nature;
  • Great coworkers and the opportunity to build an international network;
  • Vegetarian lunches in the company cafeteria and free Thursday afternoon drinks;
  • A 32–36-hour workweek. Initially, a one-year contract will be offered with a one-month probationary period;
  • A competitive salary based on the Dutch nonprofit sector; the minimum gross monthly salary for this position is €4,147, and the maximum monthly salary is €5,752, depending on relevant experience (based on a 40-hour workweek).
  • Employees also receive a personal budget, consisting of 8% vacation pay and 2.08% flexible budget, and are entitled to 6 weeks of leave per year (based on a 40-hour workweek);
  • We encourage flexible work arrangements and the use of public transportation and bicycles for commuting and business travel. Commuting expenses are reimbursed based on second-class public transportation fares (NS Business Card);
  • At WWF-NL, we operate on a hybrid model, which allows employees to alternate between working in the office (preferably 2 days) and working from home
