As a strategic sparring partner to the management teams of the Reinwardt Academy and the Breitner Academy, you will provide direction for organizational and personnel development. You don’t just contribute ideas—you think ahead. You translate ambitions and organizational goals into a clear course of action and ensure that strategy and practice reinforce one another. You move effortlessly between strategic, tactical, and operational levels, but your primary value lies at the strategic level. You oversee the bigger picture and understand what is happening on the ground. Whether it concerns organizational structure, leadership development, work-life balance, social safety, or sustainable employability: you know how to recognize patterns, conduct sharp analyses, and drive change. You work in a politically sensitive environment where diverse interests converge. This requires firmness, tact, and the ability to build trust. The HR department advises the Executive Board, the academies, and the Service Bureau on organizational development, mobility and talent development, employment conditions, labor law matters, professional development, employee well-being, and recruitment and selection. Key priorities include Diversity & Inclusion, Leadership, and Workplace Safety. The Personnel and Payroll Administration (PSA) is also part of the department. You will work in a professional, close-knit, and collegial team where collaboration and ownership are central. We work hard, with enthusiasm and conviction.
The Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) comprises the Breitner Academy, the Academy of Architecture, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, the Netherlands Film Academy, the Reinwardt Academy, and the Academy of Theatre and Dance. Together, we train students for careers in the national and international fields of art, culture, and heritage.
The position is classified in pay grade 11 under the CAO-HBO (up to €6,677.44 gross per month for full-time employment). Employment and compensation are in accordance with the CAO-HBO; the pay grade depends in part on education, experience, and most recent salary. This is initially a one-year appointment, with the prospect of permanent employment. We offer a competitive benefits package, including a solid pension plan, travel allowance, and approximately 482 vacation hours per year (full-time). Hybrid work is also an option at our organization. A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is required for this position.
