Two men are sitting at a table covered with a red-and-white checkered tablecloth, discussing documents in an office setting.

Would you like to help protect tropical forests and promote a fair economy worldwide? And do you value effective planning and reporting? Then we’re looking for you!

We are currently seeking a: Senior PMEL Officer for International Programs (0.8 FTE/30 hours)

Within the Green Livelihoods Alliance (GLA), we collaborate with the Sustainable Development Institute (Liberia), NTFP EP (Philippines), Gaia Amazonas (Colombia), IUCN NL, Tropenbos International (Netherlands), and civil society organizations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. We are committed to the conservation of tropical forests, which are vital for the livelihoods of local communities and the climate.

In addition, Milieudefensie collaborates with Both ENDS, SOMO, ITforChange, the Transnational Institute, Samdhana, the Clean Clothes Campaign, ActionAid, and civil society organizations worldwide through the Fair, Green & Global Alliance (FGG).

The goal of this program is to make international value chains more sustainable and to amplify the voices of people and communities around the world.

To ensure that these international programs are implemented as effectively as possible, a clear Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (PMEL) cycle is essential.

What will you be doing?

  • You will initiate and coordinate the development of the annual plan and the reporting of the results and activities of Milieudefensie and its partner organizations within the international programs.
  • You will monitor progress toward planned outcomes and provide regular updates to the program coordinators.
  • You will contribute to the process related to the final evaluation of the GLA program.
  • In collaboration with the coordinators of the international programs, you will develop new project proposals to secure funding for the continuation of these programs.

What are you bringing?

  • You have proven experience in preparing annual plans and annual reports (preferably in a similar organization).
  • You have proven experience coordinating processes within an organization.
  • You enjoy helping to draft project proposals in collaboration with (Southern) partner organizations and have experience in approaching funding sources.
  • You are a good communicator; you speak and write fluently in Dutch and English.
  • You are proactive and a team player.

Who do you work with?

You will be part of Milieudefensie’s International Cooperation Program Office and report to the head of that department. You will work closely with:

  • The other PMEL employee in the department.
  • Colleagues from the International Cooperation Department.
  • Program Coordinators for GLA and FGG.
  • Campaigners and policy staff in the Policy & Lobbying Department.
  • Colleagues in the Communications & Fundraising Department.
  • Colleagues from organizations within the two Alliances.

What do we offer?

  • A one-year contract with the option to extend.
  • A salary ranging from €3,315 to €4,455 for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience. At Milieudefensie, this is a 37.5-hour workweek.
  • A temporary gross allowance of €100 for full-time employees (this allowance will remain in effect until the new job and pay structure is implemented).
  • Your own laptop that you take home with you every day, so you can work from home as well.
  • The ability to arrange your work hours flexibly.
  • The option to exchange (Christian) holidays for other holidays.
  • A casual and open work environment with enthusiastic colleagues.
  • A sufficient travel allowance, work-from-home allowance, and leave policy.
  • An office in the heart of Amsterdam, easily accessible by bike and public transportation.
  • A vegan lunch twice a week for a small fee.

Milieudefensie staff work partly from home. We meet both online and in the office.

We believe in the power of diversity and strive to build a diverse workforce with balanced representation across gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, and ethnic background. That is why we especially encourage people from groups that are underrepresented within the climate movement to apply.
