The World Wildlife Fund (WWF-NL) started out as a protector of animals like the panda. Today, our challenge is much greater. Nature loss and climate change are affecting all life on Earth. That is why our mission is to make the world “Nature Positive” again. Would you like to work alongside passionate colleagues on our mission to restore nature? And help build the growing movement of people who are contributing to this in all kinds of ways? That is what you do when you work at the World Wildlife Fund.
The World Wildlife Fund consists of the Conservation, Engagement, Organization & Talent Development, and Finance & Operations departments. For the Engagement department, we are looking for a Senior Press Officer (40 hours per week) to join the Brand & Communications team .
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic colleague who can connect with others quickly and easily. As a Senior Press Officer, you will proactively reach out to journalists and (potential) media partners. You maintain a broad (media) network. You’re not afraid to pick up the phone. You quickly recognize what makes a topic compelling or newsworthy and know exactly how to bring topics that align with our mission to the attention of various journalists. In this role, you’ll work with the communications managers to determine the right messaging, with experts from the Conservation department to develop solutions in the field, and with marketers to collaborate on campaigns.
You and your fellow press officer will strengthen the World Wildlife Fund’s reputation through a smart earned media strategy. The topics you’ll be working on span the entire organization: from the impacts of climate change to the transition to a nature-friendly food system, and from protecting forest elephants in Africa to developments surrounding the nitrogen crisis in the Netherlands. As a respected knowledge institute, the World Wildlife Fund is at the center of many socially relevant developments, so as a press officer, you’ll never be bored: every day brings a new challenge!
