We are currently seeking a: Senior Public Relations Officer (0.8 FTE/30 hours)
What will you be doing?
- You will develop and organize media training sessions to empower spokespersons and prepare them to communicate effectively with the media.
- You provide personalized coaching to spokespersons within the organization so that they are fully prepared and can appear in the media with confidence.
- You will organize press briefings to inform the media about Milieudefensie’s key developments, campaigns, and positions.
- You will write and edit press releases that clearly convey Milieudefensie’s message.
- You write compelling and lively opinion pieces.
- You respond quickly and effectively to current events and news developments in order to influence public discourse.
What are you bringing?
- You have at least 5 years of work experience as a press officer or journalist.
- Your Dutch is perfect, and you have excellent writing skills.
- The ability to present complex information in a clear and accessible way.
- The ability to collaborate effectively and integrate perspectives from different disciplines.
- You are independent, assertive, and take the initiative to seize media opportunities.
- You are willing to work in the office at least two days a week and outside of regular office hours when current events require it.
- You have a network of journalists.
- Fluency in English is a plus.
Who do you work with?
You will be part of the Public Relations team. Together with subject matter experts, the executive board, and your fellow public relations officers, you will be responsible for media communications. You will provide support to various departments within our organization. In addition, you will work closely with the online team.
What do we offer?
- A one-year contract with the option to extend.
- A salary ranging from €3,771 to €5,191 for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience. At Milieudefensie, this is a 37.5-hour workweek.
- A temporary gross allowance of €100 for full-time employees (this allowance will remain in effect until the new job and pay structure is implemented).
- Your own laptop that you take home with you every day, so you can work from home as well.
- The ability to arrange your work hours flexibly.
- The option to exchange (Christian) holidays for other holidays.
- A casual and open work environment with enthusiastic colleagues.
- A sufficient travel allowance, work-from-home allowance, and leave policy.
- An office in the heart of Amsterdam, easily accessible by bike and public transportation.
