You will play a key role in Shift Left’s Academic Workplace by initiating and coordinating research projects within the workplace. In addition, you will collaborate with clinicians to apply scientific knowledge in practice and build strong research networks. The current lines of research within Shift Left focus on innovative digital interventions, including those involving non-specialist support (e.g., by hairdressers, family members, or peer experts), increasing social connection, suicide prevention, system interventions, collaboration with primary care practices and the social sector, and waiting list interventions.
Your responsibilities:
As a senior researcher, you know how to bridge the gap between science and practice. With your strong analytical skills and strategic insight, you’ll contribute to innovative research within the Shift Left Academic Workplace. You’re a driven team player who enjoys collaborating and thinking outside the box to make an impact. Your profile:
The “Shift Left” Academic Workplace is affiliated with Arkin Voordeur and Amsterdam UMC and is led by Prof. Claudi Bockting (for an overview of her research, seewww.bocktinglab.com). The workshop focuses on prevention, early treatment, and relapse prevention for mental health issues and disorders (such as anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation).
“Shift Left” refers to an approach in IT where testing, evaluation, and development begin very early in the process. The goal of Shift Left is to make processes as efficient as possible while maintaining high quality, by giving everyone independent access to resources and knowledge. We apply this principle in this Academic Workplace to provide efficient support to people with mental health issues and care providers.
We focus on short, effective interventions both within and outside the mental health care system. This includes interventions that can be implemented in a timely manner within the mental health care system (such as for people on the waiting list), as well as in general practices and in the social sector. The Arkin Mental Health Innovation Lab focuses, among other things, on personalized e-health, the involvement of the social sector in interventions (such as community workers), and the promotion of social connection.
