WHAT WE DO is a curious, ambitious, and socially engaged theater company. Driven by a deep love of theater, we create multidisciplinary projects that make important issues tangible and open to discussion. These include topics such as poverty, healthcare, the justice system, and public perception—always approached from a variety of perspectives. 

We’re looking for an experienced marketer who can help convey these stories to a wide audience. Someone who combines strategy with execution, knows how to reach and engage audiences, and fits well into a small, dedicated team that sets the course together. Does this sound like you? About WHAT WE DO

WHAT WE DO makes

theater that tackles socially relevant themes. Our productions are

always part of a larger whole: a project that takes shape in

collaboration with people outside the arts, such as healthcare professionals, young people,

researchers or civil society organizations.

Based on current

Based on these themes, we develop various components: a theater performance, but

an educational project, an installation in the lobby, a podcast, or a series

public discussions. All with the aim of making urgent issues tangible,

to make it accessible and open to discussion.

We have been in business since 2017

active, with a core team that is supplemented by freelancers for each project.

We are based in Rotterdam South and are supported by the Performing Arts Fund

and the City of Rotterdam.

Your role

As a senior

As a marketer, you are ultimately responsible for the marketing of WHAT WE DO as

both for the organization and for individual projects, but you’re not doing it alone.

You will develop strategies, implement them, and work closely with, among others, a

freelance social media marketer who manages our social media accounts and campaigns and works as an external

Press Coordinator. You will coordinate these partnerships and ensure that everything runs smoothly

as part of the bigger picture of WHAT WE DO. You’ll also be part of the

“Editorial Team”: the core team that collectively sets the direction for everything we create. You

contributes to our positioning, helps develop strategies for engaging the public, and

forms of communication, and helps our projects in a fresh and clear way

to raise awareness—among both the public and our partners.

What will you be doing?

    develops and coordinates marketing and communication plans for the projects

    and the organization

    monitors the marketing budgets

  • You

    collaborates with theaters, designers, photographers, and videographers

  • You

    writes clear and engaging copy for various communications

  • You

    keeps the website up to date and ensures visibility for projects

  • You

    manages the public database and sends out mailings

  • You

    actively builds an audience for each project and seeks out local partners,

    networks and organizations to reach specific audiences

  • You

    monitors room occupancy and makes adjustments as needed

  • You

    analyzes audience data and campaigns

  • You

    ensures consistency in tone of voice, planning, and strategy across all

    communication channels
