Here's what you'll be doing as a Senior BI Data Engineer

Your team is responsible for developing smart data solutions for NS’s finance department. For example, your team provides insight into the costs of all projects within NS and the total costs of different types of rolling stock, enabling Finance to make smart investment decisions. You are responsible for preparing and making source data available in the Azure Cloud, testing data quality, and developing associated data marts. These data marts serve as the basis for new dashboards to be developed. In addition, you will work on designing various data models. Naturally, within DEVOPS, the management and maintenance of existing products are also part of your responsibilities.

In our brand-new Microsoft Azure cloud environment, you’ll help build a data foundation that makes all data sources accessible for management models, dashboards, analyses, and other information products for NS.

You’ll work closely with colleagues throughout the chain within your team and department. You’ll play a key role in the development and delivery process, overseeing the creation of information products from development through to production. You’ll propose solutions and drive improvements.

• Setting up new data sources through to making the data available within the data mart
• The effective design and implementation of the data warehouse, including data pipelines from source to end user.
• Ensuring that code is robustly designed and includes appropriate controls related to data processing and data quality.
• Ensure a smooth transition to production with a tested and documented solution.

You will be joining the Finance Scrum Team at DIA. You’ll be part of an open-minded team where you’ll have the freedom to manage your own workload. The team consists of a Scrum Master, a Product Owner, a tester, three data engineers, and an information analyst.

These are the job requirements

• You have a college-level education and at least 4 years of experience as a data engineer or in similar roles in an ETL-BI/DWH environment.
• You believe it is important to set high standards and are skilled at delivering user-friendly products.
• You have proven experience in data integration, deployment automation, and version control.
• Do you have experience with Data Vault 2.0 and/or Apache NiFi? That would be a plus for us. 
• You enjoy staying up to date on new innovations and tools in your field and learning how to apply them in your work.
• You have experience designing logical, 3NF, and dimensional data models.
• You’re proactive and open in your communication. If you get stuck on something, you turn to your colleagues for their expertise to help you move forward.

• A salary between €3,950 and €6,745 gross per month (based on a 36-hour workweek).
• A 36-hour workweek.
