Senior Consultant for the Energy System of the Future

What you will be doing

As a senior advisor on the energy system of the future, you are responsible for translating initiatives, policy guidelines, and developments in the energy system into new solutions, partnerships, and concrete projects. You play a multifaceted role as a discussion partner, catalyst, advisor, translator, writer, and connector. Together with various stakeholders, you work toward a future-proof, affordable, and flexible energy system. Your clients include ministries, municipalities, provinces, and regions, as well as grid operators and companies.

Examples of projects our colleagues are currently working on:

• Establishing (public) heating companies and structuring heating concessions.
• Onshore wind at sea.
• Substantive and procedural support for the Underground Energy Storage Envoy.
• Overseeing processes related to integrated planning and measures to address grid congestion.
• Advice on participation in district heating networks.
• Developing provincial or regional area-specific agendas focused on energy clusters.

In addition, you will help secure new contracts. You will work in various teams, providing advice not only on technical matters but also on governance, organizational structure, change management, and collaboration. You will often serve as a project manager, process facilitator, or program manager.

You will be part of the Energy and Sustainability Transition Team, an experienced group of approximately 20 enthusiastic colleagues. This team is part of the Energy and Living Environment consulting group, which consists of about 70 consultants focused on the energy transition, the physical living environment, sustainable mobility, and spatial planning challenges. Together, you closely monitor social, economic, and political developments and respond quickly to client inquiries.

• An interest in the energy transition and the broader physical environment.
• Experience in organizing processes, programs, and projects.
• Knowledge of how the public sector operates and experience with stakeholder processes, decision-making, and/or process management.
• A relevant network in The Hague, among provincial governments, and/or larger municipalities.
• An academic degree, such as public administration, geography, energy/environment, urban planning, engineering, or law.
• At least five years of relevant work experience, preferably in the field of the energy transition.
• Experience with research and/or consulting projects.
• The ambition to work as a subject matter expert and project manager in multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical skills and a keen eye.

In addition, you are:

• Innovative and entrepreneurial: you have a way with words and know how to use information effectively.
• Strong communication skills: you can effectively convey ideas through words and images.
• A team player: you bring energy to the table, have a good sense of proportion, and keep a cool head in stressful situations.
