Senior (Communications) Consultant

We are Issuemakers: strategic communications consultants with a strong focus on substance. Together with our clients, we formulate or refine social ambitions and then translate them into positive impact for organizations and society. In this way, we aim to help accelerate social transitions. We work with clients who are—or aspire to be—impactful to develop solutions for the challenges of today and tomorrow. We do this by monitoring, managing, and creating issues—all based on a broad, cross-disciplinary approach.

And we’re looking for you! A new colleague who is capable of and willing to take on ultimate strategic responsibility for multiple clients, who enjoys providing advice and setting the direction for both the client and the internal team. You excel at strategic consulting, providing feedback, staying on course, and managing time and finances within projects. A colleague who can also generate leads, share new knowledge and insights, and is eager to contribute to our own events such as the Issue Conference or the Issue Lecture—preferably with some management experience.

Above all, we’re looking for a new colleague who is passionate about their work. Someone who, like us, can be very serious but also enjoys having lunch together and catching up on the latest news. What will you be doing here?

No two days are the same. Sometimes you’re working on one or two major projects, and other times you might be juggling five smaller ones at once. Sometimes things slow down, and on other days we’re all working together to meet a client’s needs. Your schedule may get shaken up from time to time when a client needs something done urgently. We’re looking for a senior colleague who enjoys this kind of work and is up to the challenge.

• You will develop strategies and ideas, draft action plans, and prepare proposals.
• You advise clients on social and political issues.
• You will coach, mentor, and supervise younger colleagues on assignments.
• You will be responsible for carrying out part of the work yourself when you receive assignments.
• You challenge clients and inspire them to position their organizations in a socially responsible way.
• You help improve the overall quality of our work by sharing knowledge and working together.
• You will maintain contacts, build a network, and help generate new business.
• You will continue to grow professionally and work with us to further develop the agency’s philosophy.

What do we expect from you?

• Social engagement, an interest in politics, society, and the issues behind the news.
• Extensive experience in at least two of the following areas: public affairs, crisis communication, public relations, media, stakeholder management, reputation management, and influencing behavior.
• Analytical thinking skills that you can apply to provide strategic, creative advice.
• A strong sense of responsibility for your own work and that of the consultants you work with, plus experience coaching and mentoring colleagues.
• Experience with process and financial project management.
• Experience working for or at an agency is a plus.
• Inspiration, camaraderie, constructive feedback, fun, and enthusiasm.
• Proficiency in both Dutch and English.
