Risk & Compliance Officer (First Line)

How you make a difference

As a Risk & Compliance Officer (1st line) at VGZ, you play a crucial role in building a solid foundation for the organization. With your expertise, you ensure that our processes are reliable, transparent, and conducted with integrity, so that members and healthcare partners can rely on us.

What does your role look like in day-to-day practice? You independently assess the quality of internal controls and provide recommendations to front-line staff for improvement. You ensure consistent and efficient implementation. In addition, you can independently carry out tasks on various topics related to internal controls, such as risk management, compliance, data quality, authorization management, and privacy. You advise front-line colleagues on risks, compliance, and control measures. You will also independently conduct risk assessments and control tests. With your excellent stakeholder management skills, you will foster a risk-aware culture within VGZ. You will work closely with second-line Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit.

As a Risk & Compliance Officer (1st line), you will be working within the Corporate Internal Control department. This department, consisting of 20 experts, ensures coordination, quality, and consistency in the area of internal control. You will work in a subteam of 3–6 experts. In addition, you will work closely with the Senior Internal Control Expert, under the leadership of the Corporate Internal Control Department Manager. You make the team better, and the team makes you better. Together, you keep VGZ on the right (safe) course.

In addition, we offer you:

• a salary between €4,373 and €6,246 per month based on a 38-hour workweek (Pay Scale H of the VGZ Collective Bargaining Agreement);
• comprehensive study programs and a personal training budget of €500 per year;
• vacation pay and a thirteenth month's salary;
• the flexibility to work from home. You’ll work in the office at least one day a week. The rest of the week, in consultation with your team, you can work from home at a health-and-safety-compliant workspace that we provide;
• an employer contribution of €60 gross per month toward your VGZ health insurance;
• a monthly net allowance of €40 for home internet service.
• If you work 38 hours a week, you receive 208 vacation hours per year. If you want more vacation hours, you can easily purchase them through the Flexible Benefits Plan;

What you bring

As our new Risk & Compliance Officer (1st line), you will be committed to promoting public health in the Netherlands and driving innovation in healthcare. Because you know how to communicate effectively at every level of the organization, you ensure that your assessment of the quality of internal controls is clearly understood. In addition, you are able to adapt effectively to the various levels within the organization, ensuring that internal controls truly take root among our employees.

In addition, you have:

• college-level work and thinking skills;
• at least 5 years of relevant work experience;
• knowledge of the relevant business procedures and processes of a health insurer;
• knowledge of internal control in large (financial) organizations (COSO);
