As a senior policy advisor, you will serve as project lead and secretary of the steering committee, contributing specific expertise in the area of diversity and inclusion. You will also play a key role in establishing the D&I policy within the organization.
In line with its mission, the KNAW is developing a guiding Diversity and Inclusion Agenda for 2022–2025 for its institutes, with a focus on equal opportunities and possibilities for everyone. There is a KNAW-wide steering group that oversees the implementation of this agenda in broad terms and, in that context, establishes frameworks, monitors the progress of the work, and provides support in removing barriers and raising awareness regarding D&I within the organization.
Here’s what you’ll be doing
The position of Senior D&I Policy Advisor is a new role that offers you the opportunity to help shape its scope. For now, we’re envisioning a combination of the following tasks and responsibilities:
The HR department currently employs three (senior) HR policy advisors with different areas of focus. Since 2020, the department has had a D&I advisor with whom the new senior policy advisor will work closely. In addition, there are two other major themes within the organization—Leadership and Recognition & Appreciation—which partially overlap with D&I. Depending on their expertise, the senior policy advisor will also participate in these projects.

About the KNAW Office
The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) is a forum of and for outstanding scientists. Terms of Employment Depending on education and experience, the salary ranges from a minimum of €4,629.00 to a maximum of €5,943.00 gross per month for full-time employment (scale 12 of the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities/KNAW) . This does not include 8% vacation pay, 8.3% year-end bonus, travel allowance, internet and telecommuting allowance, and pension contributions to the ABP.
