Are you an enthusiastic economist with strong persuasive skills and an interest in macroeconomic issues? And are you ready to make your mark on the economic future of the Netherlands? If so, we have a challenging opportunity for you!
At the General Economic Policy (AEP) Directorate of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy in The Hague, you will be working at the heart of economic decision-making in the Netherlands. AEP is seeking a (senior) policy officer for the Macroeconomics, Planning, and Sustainable Economy (MODE) cluster. In this cluster, colleagues address the major economic issues of the day in areas such as the business cycle and inflation, the National Growth Fund, the planning of the energy infrastructure of the future, economic security, the business climate, and business policy. The position is within our Macroeconomics team.
In short, your responsibilities as a policy officer at AEP will include the following:
Keeping abreast of current events, responding to new developments, conducting in-depth analyses, bringing these to the attention of top political and civil service officials, and providing recommendations for, for example, the preparation of civil service briefings, sub-councils, and the Council of Ministers.
To operate effectively, you need to build a strong network—both within and across departments, as well as with external experts—so that you can be involved early in the policymaking process and proactively influence policy development.
AEP offers you a diverse range of work, a variety of topics, and the opportunity to apply economic theory in practice.
Does this position sound like a good fit for you, but are you unsure whether you meet all the requirements? If so, we’d love to see your resume. Of course, you’re always welcome to give us a call to discuss it further!
