More about this organization
Modern office building of the Dutch Patient Federation, featuring a glass facade and a concrete staircase at the entrance.

The department consists of a team of seven professionals. Together, we advocate for patients’ interests in primary care, community nursing, paramedical care, long-term care, health insurance, and the affordability of healthcare.

That means we’re looking into people’s experiences, wishes, and needs.

More person, less patient. That is what the Dutch Patient Federation stands for. Together with our members, we advocate for people who need care, now and in the future. So that people can choose and receive the care that best suits them. We develop policies and influence those of other organizations and decision-makers. We ask how people experience healthcare. And based on that, we make their voices heard in doctors’ offices, in politics, and in the news. You contribute directly to that.

The Dutch Patient Federation represents more than 200 patient organizations. Approximately 75 people work at our office in Utrecht.

 Senior Advisor for Patient Advocacy

32 hours per week

The Primary and Long-Term Care Team

The department consists of a team of seven professionals. Together, we advocate for patients’ interests in primary care, community nursing, paramedical care, long-term care, health insurance, and the affordability of healthcare.

This means we investigate people’s experiences, wishes, and needs—what matters to them in healthcare, and what they need to know about it. We then use this information to reach agreements with other parties, launch projects, or engage in (political) advocacy. Together, we give patients a voice.

There are many developments taking place in the healthcare sector right now and in the coming years, and the Dutch Patient Federation will once again play an important role in these developments. You can make a valuable contribution to this effort.

What are you going to do?

You focus on the quality and accessibility of nursing home care and community nursing. You also work on projects that contribute to the (quality) information regarding this care, so that people have a better understanding of what the care entails and what its quality is. You do this together with expert and motivated colleagues, both within and outside the department. You also participate in external working groups and project teams where you represent the patient’s interests. As a senior staff member, you have a vision for developments in healthcare and proactively contribute to the strategic policy development of the Patient Federation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to policy development and strategy formulation.
  • Drafting project and program proposals and grant applications.
  • Executing and managing projects.
  • Advocating for patients' interests in consultations with stakeholders.
  • Drafting (lobbying) letters.
  • Provide support to colleagues and members in your area of expertise.

Your profile

Our new Senior Advisor for Patient Interests has an academic background and fits the following profile:

  • You are familiar with long-term care and community nursing;
  • You have experience in strategic thinking and decision-making;
  • You stay attuned to your surroundings and current events;
  • You enjoy working within the objectives of an advocacy organization;
  • You have experience in project management;
  • You're good at switching between different topics and projects;
  • As an advocate, you can hold your own in a complex landscape;
  • You enjoy working with various colleagues and/or in teams;
  • You are results-oriented and take responsibility;
  • You have strong communication skills and can express yourself clearly both verbally and in writing.

Offer

We are offering a wonderful and challenging position in a dynamic organization filled with passionate people. You’ll be joining a friendly team where hard work and fun go hand in hand. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of healthcare and can truly make a difference.

We offer flexible working hours. So this isn’t a job where you necessarily have to work strictly “9 to 5.” We work partly at the office in Utrecht and partly from home.

This is a permanent position, and you will start with a one-year employment contract. If you perform well in the role, your appointment will be converted to a permanent contract.

Depending on your education and experience, the salary is up to €5,463.00 gross per month for a 36-hour workweek (Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement, Scale 11).

The Dutch Patient Federation offers excellent employment conditions, including an Individual Choice Budget (ICB) and a career budget. The IKB is a budget that you can use freely to receive a cash payment or, for example, to purchase additional leave hours. You will also receive a work-from-home allowance and, if applicable, reimbursement for your commuting expenses. Under the collective bargaining agreement (CBA), you will be enrolled in the Pension Fund for Health and Welfare.
