At Arkin, we believe in the power of development—both for our employees and for the care we provide. That’s why we’re looking for an experienced and strategic Senior L&D Consultant who contributes daily to the growth and development of our colleagues and the quality of our care. Curious about this role? Read on!
A day in the life of a Senior L&O Consultant at Arkin:
You start your day off with a burst of energy, enjoying a cup of coffee and an inspiring meeting with the trainers. Together, you discuss the new training program and outline the action items and progress. During the weekly kickoff meeting, you coordinate with your team to determine which goals you want to achieve this week and what results you aim to deliver. You then work with the scheduling team, trainers, and actors to ensure that a specific training session is scheduled at the Arkin Academy.
Next, you’ll have an intake meeting with a manager who wants to organize a team training session. You’ll discuss their needs and goals, and you’ll start thinking about the best instructional approach. You briefly consult with one of the trainers to test your ideas. Later that morning, you’ll speak with a nurse and a fellow L&O advisor about implementing a new learning pathway for nurses.
After the meeting, you have set aside an hour of uninterrupted time to review the training plan for one of the specialties and provide feedback.
In the afternoon, you’ll join the biannual meeting with the management team of one of the specialties. Together, you’ll discuss strategic L&D issues and the development of the specialty, the teams, and the employees. Your advice will help create a stimulating learning environment. You’ll also discuss training profiles and mandatory training courses.
By the end of the afternoon, you will be working hands-on on the planning, implementation, and communication of the newly developed refresher course on medication administration for non-nurses.
Before heading home, you’ll review the day’s highlights with your fellow consultants and outline the actions for tomorrow. Together, you’ll determine the priorities and share them with the relevant parties. You’ll go home with the satisfaction of knowing that today, together with your colleagues, you’ve made a tangible contribution to an inspiring environment for learning and development within Amsterdam’s largest mental health organization.
In addition, Arkin offers attractive employment benefits such as:
Visibility and Proactivity: Youtake the initiative within the organization, representing the L&D department as both an ambassador and a specialist in the field of learning and development at Arkin. You identify opportunities for improvement in development themes and training programs, and use your pedagogical expertise to propose plans for improvement. You keep colleagues informed of progress.
Connector: Youcollaborate effectively with colleagues across the entire organization. You connect easily with people both within L&O and across the various specialties. When questions arise, you bring people and initiatives together, thereby demonstrating the added value of L&O. When necessary, you reach out to external training providers or other mental health care institutions to find solutions for training needs.
Market-Oriented and People-Oriented: Youstay up to date on new trends in healthcare technology and translate these into practical training sessions for your colleagues, so they can apply the latest techniques in their work. You are aware of what is happening outside the organization and stay informed about developments within mental health care. In addition, you are familiar with the latest trends in the field of Learning & Development and incorporate your knowledge and experience in this area into your plans and recommendations.
Project Management and Consulting Skills: Youwill lead projects, such as the implementation of a new curriculum or a leadership program, working toward effective execution through tight scheduling and clear communication.
Strategic Writing: Youdraft compelling proposals for senior management on new L&D strategies, outlining clear benefits and expected outcomes.
Education and experience: A bachelor’s degreeis required; experience in the healthcare sector is a plus. A background in nursing is preferred but not required.
