More about this organization
A modern WWF building with distinctive curved architecture and a colorful facade, surrounded by greenery and walking paths.

Would you like to work alongside passionate colleagues to create a world where people and nature thrive? And help build a “nature-positive” impact in the world’s most biodiverse landscapes by mobilizing organizations and people? That’s what you’ll be doing when you work at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF-NL).

WWF-NL consists of the following departments: Conservation, Engagement, Organization & Talent Development, and Finance & Operations. To strengthen the Business Engagement team within Partnerships & Fundraising, which is part of Engagement, we are seeking a Senior Business Engagement Advisor (32–36 hours per week).

The Senior Business Engagement Advisor reports to the Head of Partnership & Fundraising and is part of the Business Engagement team.

The Business Engagement team collaborates with the Dutch business community on impactful initiatives to promote nature conservation worldwide. The focus is on the themes of “Food,” “Finance,” “Nature-Based Solutions,” and “Climate Adaptation.”

We do this in three different ways in collaboration with the private sector:

  1. By influencing sustainability policies and their subsequent implementation through partnerships, we aim to achieve direct results in nature conservation;
  2. Through communication and campaigns with businesses, we aim to foster knowledge, awareness, and behavioral change among employees and consumers;
  3. And through financial contributions or investments, we aim to implement nature conservation projects in WWF landscapes.

For the Business Engagement team, we are looking for a Senior Advisor who, using a strategic and tactical approach, can expand, consolidate, and strengthen partnerships with the private sector focused on sustainability and financial impact. In addition, you will contribute to the development or expansion of initiatives aimed at making the private sector more sustainable, particularly in the areas of biodiversity and climate (adaptation). In doing so, you will draw on WWF’s global knowledge, innovation, and nature conservation programs. Through this, you will make a structural contribution to our ambition and goal of reducing the Dutch private sector’s footprint in WWF landscapes.

The position involves the following duties and responsibilities

  • Achieving the nature conservation and financial goals of the Business Engagement team, which are set annually;
  • Developing and managing partnerships with companies, with a focus on sustainability and financial impact;
  • Helping to develop WWF-NL’s new multi-year strategy (2026–2030), with a particular focus on Business Engagement
  • Acting strategically to achieve the short- and long-term goals of WWF-NL and the private sector;
  • Identifying trends and developments in sustainability within the private sector;
  • Work closely with the various departments within WWF-NL and the WWF network.

You have the following skills

  • knowledge of sustainability issues related to climate and biodiversity;
  • Experience collaborating with the business community
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in both Dutch and English
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience in or with the private sector (experience in the food or finance sector is preferred)
  • Experience in an international work environment is a must
  • Academic or college-level thinking skills.
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset and thrive in the intersection between the business world and WWF-NL’s conservation goals;
  • You are able to contribute to financial goals and marketing and communication initiatives that support WWF-NL’s nature conservation objectives;
  • The working language in the Engagement department is Dutch; the working language within WWF-NL as a whole is English. Therefore, excellent proficiency in Dutch and good proficiency in English, both spoken and written, are required.

  • Independent
  • Decisive

  • Entrepreneurial, you think in terms of opportunities
  • Speaks the language of business

  • A competitive salary based on the Dutch nonprofit sector; the minimum gross monthly salary for the position is €4,147 and the maximum monthly salary is €5,752, depending on relevant experience (based on a 40-hour workweek);
  • Employees also receive a personal budget, consisting of 8% vacation pay and 2.08% flexible budget, and are entitled to 6 weeks of leave per year (based on a 40-hour workweek);
