WWF-NL consists of the following departments: Conservation, Engagement, Organization & Talent Development, and Finance & Operations. To strengthen the Business Engagement team within Partnerships & Fundraising, which is part of Engagement, we are seeking aSenior Business Engagement Advisor (32–40 hours per week).
The Business Engagement team works with the Dutch private sector on impactful initiatives to promote nature conservation worldwide. The focus is on the themes of “Food” and “Finance.”
We do this in three different ways in collaboration with the private sector:
- By influencing sustainability policies and their subsequent implementation, we aim to achieve direct results in nature conservation;
- Through communication and campaigns, we aim to foster knowledge, awareness, and behavioral change among employees and consumers;
- And through donations, we aim to carry out nature conservation projects in WWF landscapes.
For the Business Engagement team, we are looking for a Senior Advisor who can consolidate and strengthen partnerships with the private sector on sustainability through a strategic and tactical approach. In addition, you will contribute to the development or expansion of initiatives aimed at making the private sector more sustainable, particularly in the areas of biodiversity and climate (adaptation). In doing so, you will draw on WWF’s global knowledge, innovation, and nature conservation programs. Through this, you will make a structural contribution to our ambition and goal of reducing the Dutch private sector’s footprint in WWF landscapes.
The Senior Advisor is part of the Business Engagement team and reports to the Lead Business Engagement. The Senior Advisor reports to the Head of Partnerships & Fundraising.
The position involves the following duties and responsibilities
- Achieving the nature conservation and financial goals of the Business Engagement team, which are set annually;
- Maintaining, implementing, and strengthening existing partnerships with the private sector;
- Developing, implementing, and sustaining new initiatives aimed at making the private sector more sustainable;
- Acting strategically to achieve the short- and long-term goals of WWF-NL and the private sector;
- Identifying trends and developments in sustainability within the private sector;
- Work closely with the various departments within WWF-NL and the WWF network.
You have the following skills
- You enjoy building relationships;
- Knowledge of sustainability issues related to climate and biodiversity;
- Experience with B2B networks;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the private sector (experience in the food or finance sector is preferred);
- You thrive in the intersection between the business world and WWF-NL’s conservation goals;
- You are able to contribute to financial goals and marketing and communication initiatives that support WWF-NL’s nature conservation objectives;
- The working language in the Engagement department is Dutch, while the working language within WWF-NL as a whole is English. Therefore, excellent proficiency in Dutch and good proficiency in English, both spoken and written, are required.

- A competitive salary based on the Dutch nonprofit sector; the minimum gross monthly salary for the position is 3,870 EUR and the maximum monthly salary is 4,993 EUR, depending on relevant experience (based on a 40-hour workweek);
- Employees also receive a personal budget consisting of 8% vacation pay and 2.08% flexible budget, and are entitled to 6 weeks of leave per year (based on a 40-hour workweek);
- We encourage flexible work arrangements and the use of public transportation and bicycles for commuting and business travel. Commuting expenses are reimbursed based on second-class public transportation fares (NS Business Card);
- At WWF-NL, we operate on a hybrid model, which allows employees to alternate between working in the office and working from home.
