
As a schedule planner in the Clinical Chemistry unit, you are the key link ensuring that our laboratory staff at the Nieuwegein and Utrecht locations are optimally deployed every day. As a schedule planner, you are responsible for effectively and efficiently planning high-quality and sufficient staffinglevels. You work according to established standards and continuously strive for optimal scheduling results. An understanding of how to create complex work schedules (day, evening, night, and weekend shifts) is essential. This requires that you understand the dynamics within the team and anticipate changes and capacity issues in a timely manner; if necessary, you can always rely on the team leaders for support.
In addition to creating schedules, you will also manage the processing of vacation and annual leave hours, maintain records of hours spent on training and workgroups, identify bottlenecks, and arrange for substitutes in case of illness. You are a professional who closely follows all developments relevant to your work. You actively ensure that you are and remain informed about the various roles within the team so that you know exactly which employees are needed on the schedule at any given time. As a schedule planner, you also provide support for pilot projects related to personnel planning. An example of this is the upcoming “team scheduling” pilot project within Ortec.

The Clinical Chemistry unit is located at the Nieuwegein, Utrecht, and Woerden sites, including the outpatient clinics. You will be responsible for scheduling the laboratory staff (Production). Approximately 100 colleagues work here. You will work closely with the three team leaders and the department head. You will also collaborate with the front-office scheduler within the unit. Preferably, you will spread your hours over four workdays. Work hours will be determined in consultation.

You work independently and are solution-oriented, with a keen understanding of how processes are interconnected. You are at your best when solving complex scheduling puzzles. Your excellent communication skills and attention to detail come in handy here. When the challenge of finalizing the schedule is particularly daunting, you thoroughly explore all possibilities and keep working on the puzzle until you find the optimal solution. Your social and empathetic skills are indispensable in this regard.
