The legacy of the women’s movements and women’s liberation is more relevant today than ever before. Nearly 90 years later, we at Atria—a team of about 25 dedicated colleagues—are working to manage, create, and make accessible knowledge about gender equality, women’s movements, and women’s liberation.
Together, we are working toward our goal of further developing Atria as a knowledge institute and taking the next step in making our research and collections more accessible. But we’re not quite there yet; we are currently seeking a Relationship Manager/Fundraiser.
If you’re interested in a challenging role in a dynamic environment and you think you’re a good fit for the job description, we’d love to hear from you. Call or email us for more information, or apply now!
Atria collects and manages resources on gender equality, women’s movements, and women’s empowerment, and makes them accessible to the academic community and society at large. Through research in national and international contexts , Atria promotes knowledge development and thereby contributes to the emancipation of women in all their diversity. The focus on the specific interactions between different groups in society makes our collection distinctive and unique.
Atria collects materials to enable academia and society to preserve information and generate new knowledge about the history of women, gender relations, women’s movements, and the evolution of women’s status. The archives contain the primary sources of Dutch women’s movements. The library and databases provide a broad national and international context for these sources. Together, they form a unified whole in which the constituent parts reinforce, enrich, and deepen one another.
The Aletta Jacobs Fund is Atria’s supporting foundation. Established in 2015, its purpose is to contribute to projects and initiatives in the fields of women’s history, emancipation, feminism, and gender and women’s studies, encompassing all social and ethnic diversity. Funds are derived from bequests and donations. The fund has a board that decides on the allocation of funds based on the advice and requests of Atria.
As a Relationship Manager/Fundraiser, you are responsible for building and maintaining a relevant network of funds and stakeholders. In doing so, you develop new relationships, strengthen existing ones, and create opportunities for strategic partnerships. You identify relevant social trends, developments, and new players in the field and translate these into opportunities for the organization. In this role, you will serve as a sparring partner and expert for the executive and board members, advising them on opportunities and priorities. For the AJF’s fundraising efforts, you will develop policies, oversee their implementation, and evaluate the results within the framework of Atria’s strategic organizational policy.
You’re a natural networker and a true heritage enthusiast. The motto No documents, No history, coined by one of our founders, Rosa Manus, is music to your ears. In your role as a relationship manager/fundraiser, you have an uncanny knack for identifying opportunities for our organization to build long-term relationships with key stakeholders. With both your head and your heart, and with a focus on results, you collaborate and build support both within and outside the organization. To do this, you bring a college or university level of education and thinking, as well as several years of experience in this or a similar role. Knowledge of laws, regulations, and the tax aspects of fundraising and privacy is a plus, as is experience with relevant applications. You are entrepreneurial, flexible, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills (in Dutch and English). Time management and project planning hold no secrets for you. And last but not least: you have a strong affinity for women’s history, emancipation, gender equality, and diversity.
We offer a dynamic work environment with a high degree of autonomy and an enthusiastic, friendly team. The position is for 24–32 hours per week for a one-year term, with the possibility of extension. You will receive a salary in accordance with Scale 11 of the Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement, ranging from €3,764 to €5,845 gross per month based on a 36-hour workweek, depending on your knowledge and experience. This includes an Individual Choice Budget, 8.11% vacation pay, a thirteenth month’s salary of 8.96%, and reimbursement of your travel expenses. You will accrue pension benefits through the Pensioenfonds Zorg en Welzijn. With the Career Budget of 1.5% of your annual salary, you can take a course, training, or program to further your professional development.
The application deadline is August 16, 2024, or earlier if we find a suitable candidate. The first round of interviews will take place between September 2 and 6; the second round will be held during the week of September 9–13. If you have any questions regarding the position, please contact Kya de Ruiter at HR@Atria.nl or 06-10 19 84 34.
