Are you an experienced Python developer with a passion for the energy transition and complex energy issues? CE Delft is looking for a motivated colleague to join our team in developing and applying advanced energy models. Since 1978, we have been working together on innovative solutions for the energy future of the Netherlands and beyond.
As a Python developer, you will work with our proprietary advanced energy models, such as CEnergieand CEGOIA. CEnergie is our Python model that we use to investigate how flexible energy supply and demand can be optimally aligned. Using advanced algorithms, such as linear optimization, the model determines how assets—such as heat pumps and electric vehicles—can be intelligently controlled. This leads to more efficient use of energy and grid capacity and reduces costs. You will contribute to the development and application of these models and, together with colleagues, help translate policy questions and societal challenges into concrete insights. We also aim to work toward the use of open-source models such as pyPSA, a tool for modeling electricity systems in Europe.
Our projects range from analyzing time-of-use grid tariffs for large-scale consumers to conducting social cost-benefit analyses for energy hubs. In addition, you will investigate, for example, the impact of dynamic electricity contracts on grid congestion and the effects of time-of-use grid tariffs on the charging behavior of home batteries and electric vehicles, as well as on local grid load.
Your work has a direct impact on the energy transition and helps policymakers, businesses, and grid operators make informed decisions. You can find out more about our studies at Electricity - CE Delft.
CE Delft offers an informal and non-hierarchical work environment. You will work in rotating teams on a wide range of projects in the field of energy supply. You will do all of this as part of a team of colleagues from various disciplines who are passionate about their work. Our colleagues are knowledgeable, communicative, enjoy brainstorming complex issues, and are open-minded, forward-thinking, and outward-looking.
We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits, including flexible working hours, free lunch, part-time work, and the option to work from home. We also have a flexible policy regarding vacation and holiday leave. This allows employees of all faiths to take time off on their respective religious holidays. In your role at CE Delft, you’ll have significant freedom to develop in a direction that suits you. You can also count on excellent guidance and a focus on personal development, including a range of customized training courses.
