The position
As a GGD Psychologist, you will work inthePsychologists & Case Management team, which consists of both psychologists and case managers involved in the various approaches of the Action Center for Safety and Care (AcVZ). The AcVZ is the Care and Safety Center for the Amsterdam-Amstelland region. It offers various programs for individuals who come into contact with law enforcement and the justice system due to serious offenses and who face complex issues. These include the TOP approach, ROSA, and the Radicalization approach. The TOP 600 approach has been in place since 2012 and consists of three person-centered approaches: the TOP 600, Safe Alternative, and Doorgroeiers.
Psychologists conduct comprehensive screenings with clients from various treatment programs to identify psychosocial and/or psychiatric issues. These issues are then used to formulate a care recommendation, and clients are referred to appropriate care. In addition, they conduct diagnostic assessments, such as intelligence testing, for various target groups.
Here's what you do on an average day
- Screening and assessing psychosocial care needs.

- Providing advice and answering questions from partners.
- Contribute to the team's development and professional growth.
- In addition to your role as a psychologist, you’ll have a wider range of responsibilities within our department. This could include, for example, working at the screening desk for people who are homeless or living on the streets.

The GGD Amsterdam is the largest and oldest municipal health service in the Netherlands. It employs approximately 1,200 people across various locations. The organization’s mission is: “The GGD Amsterdam actively monitors and promotes the health of the population. We aim to reduce health disparities and promote self-reliance in order to improve participation.” The wide variety of activities carried out by the GGD is divided into various departments. The MGGZ department is undergoing significant changes and consists of the MGGZ Safety Net (which includes the pillars Homelessness & Access, Migration & Safety, and Care & Nuisance) and the Integrated MGGZ Services. The department’s primary target group consists of citizens with OGGZ-related issues.
What you bring
For this position as a Public Health Psychologist, you must have:
- A completed university degree in clinical/forensic psychology.
- At least 2 years of work experience in forensic psychiatry and diagnostics.
- Owned by BAPD/LOGO.
- Familiarity with Amsterdam’s social landscape, so you can quickly make the right connections. Please explain this in your cover letter.
You should have the following skills:

- Initiative: You take the initiative to address identified care needs and opportunities for improvement. With your proactive approach, you help to innovate the care process and contribute to accessible and effective care services.
What we offer you
As a GGD Psychologist, youwilljoin our teamfor32 to 36 hours per week and can expect the following terms of employment.
- A gross monthly salary between €3,674 and €5,419 (pay grade 10) based on a 36-hour workweek. The exact salary will be determined based on your education, knowledge, and experience.
- A one-year employment contract, with the possibility of a permanent contract thereafter, if you do not currently have an employment contract with the City of Amsterdam, or if you have only a temporary one.
- If you already have a permanent employment contract with the City of Amsterdam, you will retain it and be transferred.
- Opportunities for professional development and training. Our in-house training center, the Amsterdam School, offers a variety of training programs, development tracks, and on-the-job coaching to help you continue to challenge yourself.
- An individual flexible budget (IKB) equal to 17.05% of your salary, which you can use for things like additional pension contributions or extra days off.
- A pension plan with ABP, the pension fund for the public sector and education.
- A travel allowance of €0.10 per kilometer for travel by car, €0.15 per kilometer for travel by bicycle, and €0.21 per kilometer for travel by public transportation. This applies to a one-way commute of up to 45 kilometers and for the number of days you work in the office.
- For days you work from home, you will receive a work-from-home allowance of €3 net per workday that you work from home.
- A monthly contribution toward health insurance.
- A cell phone and a laptop.
