The VO-raad's informational resources

Together with the PO-Raad, the VO-Raad is working on the development of various online information products (apps) for schools, school boards, and school consortia. With three development teams, we develop and manage these apps for over 10,000 users. The apps help users stay informed about topics such as exam results, students repeating a grade, and the allocation of funds. In addition, the public website www.scholenopdekaart.nl enables schools to communicate what they do and why they do it to parents, students, and other stakeholders, such as the Education Inspectorate.  

What will you be doing?

As a project assistant, you’ll be partly responsible for the satisfaction surveys. Each year, schools can use the app to ask all students and parents how satisfied they are. You’ll analyze the results we receive and process them in the apps so that schools and parents can view them. You’ll maintain contact with the schools and school boards conducting the surveys and be available to answer questions by phone and email (^second-line support). You’ll help improve the websites and work with external research firms that schools partner with.

In addition, you will be part of the Vensters vo team (6 colleagues) and will handle day-to-day operations, including answering questions from schools and school boards, giving presentations to users, and testing existing applications. You will also have the opportunity to take on independent projects based on your interests, such as developing or refining indicators for the website www.scholenopdekaart.nl.

In summary, this means:

• Collect user requirements and document them in the backlog so that developers can implement them
• We use Agile/Scrum; this means we work in two-week cycles, during which you prepare the developers’ work (refinements) and evaluate it together (testing and retrospectives)
• Writing articles for the newsletter for our users
• Second-level support for users (via email or phone) who need help using the website
• Communication with organizations we frequently collaborate with, such as the Education Inspectorate, regarding the various areas the Inspectorate oversees in schools
• Functional testing of applications as if you were a user
• Workshops on "Schools on the Map" for users such as policy staff and school administrators

Who are you?

You’re a go-getter, eager to learn, and want to develop your skills in the field of IT application development. You also have an interest in—or affinity for—the education sector.

•  You have completed your associate’s or bachelor’s degree, are ready to start working, and have already gained some work experience
•  You keep up with the news and are curious about what's happening in education
• You’re not afraid to ask questions, you have an eye for detail, and you keep the big picture in mind,
• You enjoy working as part of a team and with colleagues from other organizations
•  You enjoy communicating with users by phone or email to assist them, and you enjoy teaching groups of people who want to learn
•  You have an affinity for education

We offer

You will receive a one-year contract with the possibility of renewal for a fixed term. The VO-raad offers a competitive salary (CLA-VO scale 10, with pay grade determined by education and work experience) and an excellent benefits package, including a generous number of vacation days, an end-of-year bonus of 8.33%, a great pension plan with the ABP, and an annual training budget. A combination of working from home and in the office is certainly possible in this role.
