Do you have a passion for art and culture? Do you want to help create a fair labor market for the cultural and creative sectors? Are you an experienced project manager? Do you know what it takes to initiate, develop, and implement projects within an association? Then we’re looking for you!

Project Manager, Creative Coalition

(32 hours per week)

Who are we?

We are the Creative Coalition. We are an association of 44 advocacy groups from the cultural and creative sector, representing a total of more than 45,000 members. Together, we advocate for the interests of everyone working in the cultural and creative sector. We are committed to ensuring a healthy, safe, and fair labor market in our sector. Fair Practice—including Fair Pay, Fair Share, and Fair Chain—are the Creative Coalition’s priorities for the coming period.

Following its founding phase, the association is now in a transition toward stabilization. In recent years, the Creative Coalition, together with its members, has established an increasingly strong position in The Hague’s political arena and has represented the voice of working people. It is partly up to the project leader to highlight these developments and raise the Coalition’s profile.

This role places a strong emphasis on strengthening the Creative Coalition in discussions regarding the labor market position of workers in the sector. Various projects are currently underway within the coalition and among stakeholders. Tackling various tasks on a project basis—whether or not in collaboration with stakeholders—is at the core of this role.

If you'd like to learn more about what we do, please visit our website: decreatievecoalitie.nl

Who are we looking for?

You’ll be working in a dynamic environment with members who are dedicated to their own professional practices in the cultural and creative sector. You, too, are passionate about the cultural and creative sector and the labor market challenges it faces.

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague who enjoys initiating, describing, and leading projects in a political environment—whether or not in collaboration with members. You will seek out funding sources for the projects and be able to monitor the budget and report on budget and progress to the director, funder, and board. You know how to align the projects with the objectives of the Creative Coalition and ensure that projects stay on track. You have a clear overview of all activities, are an excellent planner, and possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills. You are a team player and easily establish rapport with members and stakeholders.

You will report to the director and work closely with your colleagues and, depending on the activity, with members of the board. The board consists of a minimum of five and a maximum of ten members.

The administrative team supports the association and the board. The administrative team consists of a director (0.8 FTE), an office secretary (0.6 FTE), a project manager (0.8 FTE), a marketing and communications officer (0.6 FTE), and staff hired on a freelance or project basis.

What will you be doing?

  • You will ensure that project assignments and plans are aligned with the client and management; you will develop the plan and ensure that it is approved by the client (board) and (if applicable) external financiers.
  • You ensure that all plans are aligned with the Creative Coalition’s mission, vision, and objectives.
  • You will play a key role in defining the scope and formulating the project brief, develop the plan, and ensure that it is shared with the client.
  • The plans are SMART, have been coordinated with the client, and mutual agreement on the preconditions and available resources has been reached.
  • You ensure that the plan is implemented correctly and on time, monitor the budget to ensure it is used efficiently and cost-effectively, and maintain excellent project records.
  • The client and management have been informed in accordance with the agreements and as required, and an account has been rendered.
  • You maintain the relationship with the client efficiently and effectively.
  • The process of achieving the project results was efficient and transparent. Throughout the project, you were able to respond effectively and flexibly to developments, and follow-up support was provided when necessary.
  • You have leveraged your network to help achieve the project and organizational goals, and the relevant stakeholders have been effectively engaged.
  • Project management has been carried out, and processes are transparent and managed in accordance with the applicable agreements and grant guidelines.
  • You will coordinate the project staff, volunteers, and external contractors.
  • You have experience with fundraising and crowdfunding.

What do we need?

You enjoy keeping track of the big picture and managing processes, and you thrive on collaboration. You are an excellent communicator (both verbally and in writing). You have an eye for diversity, the level of the people you communicate with, and political dynamics. You have at least a college-level work and thinking ability. We expect accuracy and attention to detail in performing your tasks. You recognize and acknowledge the diverse positions within the association and the influence they hold, and you know how to leverage that influence positively for the cause the Creative Coalition stands for. You oversee situations and processes and identify challenges that arise. You can systematically address these to arrive at effective solutions. You do this by establishing a project structure and collaborating with members and stakeholders.

What do we offer you?

  • This is a salaried position.
  • The position is initially for a period of one year. If you prove to be a good fit, the contract may be extended.
  • The position is for 32 hours per week and offers a gross salary of up to €3,400 for 32 hours, depending on experience, excluding vacation pay and a 3% year-end bonus.

We don't have an office yet. Depending on where our employees live, we'll look for workspace at members' locations or rent space elsewhere. You'll also work from home.

We strive to achieve a good balance of diverse backgrounds within our board and our organization, including age, sex, gender, experience, and cultural background. We therefore warmly invite all interested candidates to apply.

If you are interested, please email your cover letter and resume by February 25, 2023, to annemarieharmsen@decreatievecoalitie.nl, addressed to Anne-Marie Harmsen. For more information: 06-46613250. Initial interviews are scheduled for the last week of February and the first week of March.
