‘“Raise the bar, close the gap”—this quote from educationalist Michael Fullan forms the basis for the “Become Good, Stay Good” program. Through this program, we support schools and school boards that have been rated as very weak or unsatisfactory by the education inspectorate. We also support schools that consider themselves at risk. To ensure these processes run smoothly, we are seeking a Project Coordinator. Are you the coordinator who keeps an eye on the big picture, makes the right match between school and advisor, and thus makes an important contribution to improving education in the Netherlands? Apply now!
As a project coordinator for the “Goed worden, Goed blijven (+)” program, you will work with a project team—under the direction of a program manager—to coordinate support for underperforming, very weak, and at-risk schools. This means you will have frequent contact with the schools in the program and with the consultants. Your responsibilities include conducting intakes with new schools, where you’ll really dig deep to pinpoint exactly what the school needs. It’s then up to you to match them with a suitable advisor. You’ll ensure that the processes run smoothly. In addition, you’ll contribute to the continuous improvement of the program and help us further strengthen the sector using all the knowledge we have about educational quality.
The program is carried out within the PO-Raad, the sector organization for primary education. The program is part of the services cluster. You will have frequent contact with colleagues working on other projects within the organization, but you will also be in contact with colleagues who focus on educational quality in the sector.
An enthusiastic, driven, and independent colleague with practical experience in education who, ideally, has experience with educational improvement initiatives. You understand the challenges faced by underperforming and very weak schools and are familiar with current educational developments, research, and the inspection framework. You bring a healthy sense of humor, the ability to keep things in perspective, and a positive attitude, and you see it as a challenge to carry out your work under time pressure and to switch quickly between strategic and operational levels.
If you are interested in this position, please email your cover letter and resume to the PO-Raad by May 26 at the latest: vacature@poraad.nl, with the subject line “Project Coordinator GWGB.” The first round of interviews will take place on Tuesday afternoon, June 6, in Utrecht.
For more information about the position, please contact Nienke Deelstra, Program Manager, at 06 13 96 52 56.
The “Get Good, Stay Good” (GWGB) and “Get Good, Stay Good+” (GWGB+) programs are subsidized initiatives that support schools and school districts when they face quality issues.
GWGB focuses on schools and school boards that have received an unsatisfactory rating from the Education Inspectorate. The program manages a pool of advisors. When a school and/or school board receives an unsatisfactory rating, these advisors are first deployed to conduct an in-depth analysis and make recommendations for improvement. Following this analysis, the Flying Brigade steps in; its members support the school in addressing the identified areas for improvement in order to restore quality standards. The pool of advisors consists of 65 individuals.
GWGB+ focuses on schools whose academic performance is around the warning threshold and is therefore significantly below the national average. Through a self-assessment, schools work with a consultant to identify the initial situation and the need for support. After developing an action plan, the school works with the consultant to achieve its goals. GWGB+ is also available to school boards that wish to take a proactive approach to their quality assurance efforts.
The PO-Raad is the sector organization for primary education. The association represents the common interests of school organizations in primary education, special primary education, and (secondary) special education. Through visits, networking events, and the General Members’ Meeting, our members are involved in shaping the PO-Raad’s positions. This makes the PO-Raad an authoritative advocate. In addition, the PO-Raad drives innovative projects and knowledge sharing for primary and special education. Quality is our top priority. After all, it concerns the future of our children, and therefore the future of the Netherlands. That is why we remain committed to quality education for every child.
