Where will you be working?
HKU is one of Europe’s largest educational institutions for art and media. In addition to education, we invest heavily in research at the intersection of art, design, technology, and science. This research is conducted within our Academies and Research Chairs. As we are conducting an increasing number of research projects in collaboration with external organizations, we need greater coordination. That is why we are looking for an enthusiastic and meticulous Research Project Coordinator.
What will you be doing?
As a research project coordinator, you will work within the research support department. You will be involved in the initial stages of research projects, such as grant applications. Once projects are underway, you will coordinate and oversee multiple research projects, which are often conducted in collaboration with external partners in the arts, academia, and civil society organizations. You serve as the liaison between researchers, project leaders, partners, and the internal organization. You ensure the right information is available, manage planning, and ensure deadlines are met.
In addition, you serve as the link between the teams. You foster collaboration and organize meetings related to the research projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing, monitoring, and overseeing project schedules and budgets;
- Facilitating collaboration among researchers, faculty, students, and external partners;
- Identifying bottlenecks and helping to find solutions to ensure projects run smoothly;
- Organizing meetings;
- Assistance with drafting project proposals and grant applications
- Coordinating reporting, administrative processes, and communication with grant providers;
Who are you?
We are looking for a colleague who feels at home in a dynamic, creative, and multidisciplinary environment. You can maintain a clear overview of complex projects and have a keen eye for detail, without losing sight of the big picture.
- A completed associate’s degree, preferably in a relevant field (e.g., cultural management, organizational studies, communication, or similar);
- Demonstrable experience in project coordination, preferably within research projects or funded national or international collaborations;
- Familiarity with or a strong affinity for research and innovation at the intersection of art and science;
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, in both Dutch and English;
- Ability to work independently and proactively, while also collaborating effectively with various stakeholders;
- Experience with grant administration, reporting, and financial accountability is a plus.
