You are the program manager for the PGO on Airprogram . You will establish new contacts and collaborate with our PGO alliance partners to achieve our goal: to raise awareness of , promote the adoption of, and maximize the use of PGOs in the Netherlands.

What will you be doing?

You are the program manager for the PGO on Airprogram . You will establish new contacts and collaborate with our PGO alliance partners to achieve our goal: to raise awareness of , promote the adoption of, and maximize the use of PGOs in the Netherlands.

As a program manager, you set the program’s direction and translate plans into concrete actions for the program team. You collaborate with pillar owners within the program and with various stakeholders outside of it. This is reflected in the following activities:

  • You will lead a program team comprised of professionals who will work with you to achieve the goals of PGO on Air.
  • You will maintain contact with the various stakeholders in the PGO network (such as MedMij, VZVZ, NictiZ, and the VIPP programs) and with the partners who have signed the Integral Care Agreement (industry and professional organizations, Zorgverzekeraars Nederland).
  • You are responsible for the entire program and ensure coherence and coordination among its various components.
  • You give presentations on PGOs and PGO on Air both within and outside the Patient Federation.
  • You will maintain close contact with the client (the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport) and keep them informed of the program’s progress.
  • You are responsible for the program's budget and closely monitor the budget, utilization, and forecasts.
  • You will maintain contact with the PGO Alliance and PGO suppliers. You will also keep them informed and involve them in the implementation of the program.

Digital Healthcare Team

You will join the Digital Healthcare team, which consists of approximately seven professionals who are collectively responsible for various areas related to digital data exchange, personal health environments (PHEs), and hybrid care. Each team member is part of one or more programs or projects in the field of digital healthcare. In this way, we contribute to national healthcare information policy in collaboration with the government and other healthcare stakeholders, and we are realizing a vision for digital healthcare and PHEs in particular. We also promote hybrid care and work on the website digitalezorggids.nl, the guide to help people find the most suitable digital healthcare options. The motto “for patients and by patients” is central to this. In addition, we also carry out projects in the areas of medication transfer within the healthcare chain and artificial intelligence. In all our projects, key themes such as user-friendliness, privacy, and public awareness play a major role.

Are we looking for you?

As a program manager, you are a strong leader who can oversee multiple areas of focus simultaneously. You serve as a key advisor and liaison for stakeholders within the PGO system and the program team, and you work closely with MedMij.

In this role, you will also bring the following:

  • A strong sense of social and political awareness. You are able to listen to different perspectives and know how to build support among relevant stakeholders.
  • You have experience with PGOs or are able to quickly grasp new material.
  • Preferably, an existing network in the healthcare sector and the skills needed to establish and maintain the right connections and bring people together when necessary.
  • You are focused on achieving the agreed-upon results and ensuring quality. In doing so, you rely on the expertise and dedication of the project leaders in the program.
  • You come up with innovative solutions, new connections, or combinations, and you think outside the box.

In addition to the skills listed above, you must meet the following requirements:

  • A demonstrable academic level of work and thinking.
  • The ability to think strategically while also being hands-on.
  • Proven experience in managing complex and dynamic issues. You are capable of leading a cross-organizational program with multiple focus areas.
  • Knowledge of implementation, communication, and scaling-up issues in the healthcare sector.
  • A strong negotiator who can hold their own in a complex environment.
  • Enthusiastic and flexible (meetings are sometimes held outside regular office hours)
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience.

What do we offer you?

In short, you’ll ensure that more patients and residents are aware of PGO’s, can choose them, use them, and make the most of them. We offer a dynamic role within a socially relevant organization—one where you can further develop your skills in substantive, strategic, and political areas, and build a strong network within the healthcare sector.

We offer flexible working hours. So this isn’t a job where you necessarily have to work strictly “9 to 5.” With us, you can work in a hybrid model (partly from home, partly at our office in Utrecht). However, if you prefer, you can also work entirely at our office.

Depending on your education and experience, the salary is up to €6,065.00 gross per month for a 36-hour workweek (Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement, Scale 12). You will receive a one-year employment contract with the possibility of renewal.

The Dutch Patient Federation offers attractive employment terms, including an Individual Choice Budget (IKB) and a career budget. The IKB provides you with a budget that you can use at your discretion to receive as cash or to purchase additional leave hours.

The Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement is followed. Under the terms of the agreement, you are enrolled in the Healthcare and Social Services Pension Fund.
