FLOOR is the cultural platform of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and is part of the UvA/HvA Library. We organize gatherings, panel discussions, film screenings, exhibitions, and workshops. Through these activities, we foster deeper engagement and connection alongside students’ academic studies. We focus primarily on students, but we’re open to everyone. Curious about our activities? Check out our Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/floor_hva/.
Here's how you can make a difference
As a program producer, you will independently develop programs and work with your colleagues to determine the FLOOR programming. You’re skilled at devising program concepts that bring together education, research, and cultural and social organizations. You do this in a format that resonates with our primary target audience of students, often using FLOOR’s own event space. Thanks to your organizational skills, every program runs smoothly. You also enjoy managing a team of student workers. You connect easily with people and use your networking skills to build, expand, and maintain a relevant network.
You'll become part of this team
The FLOOR team currently consists of the program manager, two program coordinators, and two communications staff members. During events, we are supported by a motivated group of student workers. You will report to the program manager and receive guidance and support from the communications staff.
Here's how you enrich our lives
No two employees at the AUAS are alike. So no matter who you are, you’ll always be a great addition to our team.
- Content. You translate social issues into substantive programs that highlight different perspectives. These programs are tailored to the needs and experiences of AUAS students.
- Project Management. You’re a pro at project management and know exactly what needs to be done, when, where, and how. You manage every program from start to finish (coordination, planning and progress monitoring, creating roadmaps, finances, and reporting).
- Production. You are responsible for the entire production of a program, and you are on site during the program to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Student workers are part of the production team, and you supervise them.
- Relationship management. You will build and actively maintain a relevant network within the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS). Using the input you gather from them, you will develop new program ideas and then flesh them out. In addition, you will initiate and maintain relationships with partners and collaborators within the city.
- Experience. You have at least 2 years of experience developing substantive programs and have organized activities for young people aged 17–25.
You should also bring:
- Personality. You’re confident and straightforward. You’re empathetic, and your enthusiasm makes it easy to get others on board. You have a keen interest in social issues and are well-informed about Amsterdam’s cultural scene. In your free time, you enjoy taking in cultural events.
- Creativity. Your mind is bursting with ideas, and you draw inspiration from the things you see, hear, and experience. You know how to translate these ideas into FLOOR programs.
- Interests. Topics such as sustainability, diversity and inclusion, and student well-being interest you
- Flexibility. In this role, you’ll work irregular hours on weekdays, and that’s fine with you.
- Networking skills. You get energy from people, you enjoy making connections, and you like bringing people together.
- Strategic vision. You have a keen sense of political and administrative dynamics, and you understand how our programming contributes to FLOOR’s strategic objectives.
Finally, we expect you to have a college-level or higher education background and to meet the library’s core competencies (teamwork, customer focus, and ability to learn).
We realize that this position requires a great deal of knowledge and experience, but even if you don’t fully meet the requirements, please don’t hesitate to apply. We’re committed to investing in your personal growth.
