Are you a natural organizer and interested in working at the intersection of education and media? Do you thrive in a dynamic work environment where you interact with a wide variety of people? Would you like to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people in vocational education? Then we’re looking for you!
For 23 years, Bekijk ’t has been organizing art projects for secondary schools, with a focus on film education and youth culture. We develop workshops, project days, multi-year learning pathways, and projects in collaboration with students, schools, creators, and partners.
Bekijk 't specializes in film education at the VMBO level. We use media that young people enjoy using themselves, such as films, music videos, and podcasts. Students work on developing basic media production skills and then discover or develop their artistic talents under the guidance of professional creators.
Bekijk ‘t’s long-term projects align with subjects like Civics and Social Studies, thanks to the social themes we choose. Bekijk ‘t’s motto is: learning by doing. Our lessons are always practical, fun, and hands-on. Students work toward a professional final product they can be proud of. We do all of this with a small team of three full-time staff members and a group of freelance professionals. Our workplace is at A-Lab in Amsterdam Noord.
Due to a leave of absence, we are looking for a production assistant (preferably self-employed) to work 32 hours per week and be responsible for the production of our programs. Given our target audience (secondary school students and teachers), the working language for this position is Dutch.
The salary is based on Scale 7 of the Collective Labor Agreement for Arts Education, with pay determined by age and experience. The schedule follows the school calendar. The work will take place in June/July (orientation) and from September through November 2024.
Interested? Please send a short letter in Dutch explaining your motivation, along with your resume or a short video (no longer than 2 minutes) to maren@bekijkt.nl in which you introduce yourself to us. Not sure if this position is right for you, or do you have other questions about the role—such as whether your language skills are sufficient? Then call us at 020-5818150 or send us an email.
Learn more about us at www.bekijkt.nl. Our office is wheelchair accessible, and there is an elevator in the building. Service dogs are welcome. Working from home is (partially) possible.
Bekijk 't strives to be an inclusive, equitable, and safe workplace. Through our programs, we actively seek to help combat inequality (including inequality of opportunity) and the stigmatization of young people in VMBO. VMBO students are a highly diverse group, with as many stories as there are individuals. They need role models who reflect their cultural backgrounds, religions, genders (and gender expressions), neurodiversities, (physical) disabilities, and educational pathways. We believe that our own organization should reflect that diversity.
