As a prevention specialist for young people and education, you will work in the community, closely with people in the Utrecht and Amersfoort regions. Starting in 2025, Hilversum will be added to this area. Your focus is on families on the one hand and education on the other. In addition, you provide training to professionals such as teachers.
A week in the life of a prevention expert:
“This morning, you have an introductory meeting with a family who might be good candidates for the KOPPKOV groups. You speak with the parents and children, along with a colleague, at a neutral location in the neighborhood. In the afternoon, you provide parent counseling for a KOPPKOV group and wrap up the day’s administrative tasks. The next day, you start a bit later in the neighborhood where you serve as the contact person for a Care Advisory Team, meeting with teachers from a school. Afterward, you provide the school’s mentors with professional development on early and effective identification of risky substance use. You have a counseling session with a mother who is concerned about her son’s cannabis use. You also meet new colleagues at a youth care institution where you will serve as the contact person on behalf of Jellinek, together with a neighborhood team member. During the week, you help develop a new product, such as a flyer or promotional video. In the evening, you and a colleague will lead a “Help, My Child Can’t Live Without It” course for parents. “
