Are you passionate about politics and driven to support democracy and make a substantive impact? If so, this is undoubtedly one of the most rewarding roles in public administration. You’ll expand your network to include the High Councils of State, ministries, and other key stakeholders. This will give you a keen sense of current issues and enable you to fulfill your central role in shaping policy, processes, and procedures even more effectively.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Senate committees, ensuring that the work of the senators runs smoothly. This is a success you can claim as your own as a committee clerk in The Hague. You are committed to fostering excellent collaboration and serve as a cultural leader within your team and during change processes within the clerk’s office.
You will support the Justice and Security (J&V) and Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) committees, but you will also be able to assist other committees or fill in for colleagues. Within these policy areas, you will advise Members of Parliament on legal—constitutional or administrative law—and policy-related procedures. In doing so, you will primarily assist the committee chairs and members. Actively contributing ideas: that is what defines your role. In this way, you ensure consistency in the work of the House and promote the quality of the legislative process. Furthermore, you will support the Speaker and the Clerk in the run-up to and during the plenary session.
As a functional manager, you won’t be doing this important work alone, but with your committee staff—a team of about five colleagues, including administrative staff, information specialists, and support staff. You’ll keep them informed about internal and external developments that affect the court clerk’s office. In recent years, we have grown rapidly and taken on a number of new statutory responsibilities. This has created a new dynamic. You will contribute to the smooth implementation of our change initiatives and inspire your colleagues to embrace them.

In addition to your salary, you will receive a flexible benefits package (IKB). The IKB consists of monetary benefits (16.37% of your gross annual salary) and time off. With the IKB, you can make choices that suit you and customize part of your employment benefits. For example, you can choose to have a portion of your monthly income paid out whenever you wish. You can also convert this budget into leave and vice versa, or spend it on tax-friendly purposes. The Dutch government is strongly committed to personal growth and career development and offers numerous opportunities for this. The fringe benefits include various study facilities, company fitness programs, full reimbursement of your public transportation costs for commuting, and partially paid parental leave.
