AtNieuwsuur, we bring to light stories that move and provoke thought. Our editorial team’s goal is to serve as a well-informed guide for viewers and visitors, both on TV and online. Our viewers don’t just want to know what’s happening, but also how and why. From various angles, we take a critical look at current developments and share revealing facts and new perspectives. You can find our stories in the NOS app, and every week you can watch our in-depth videos on YouTube. And of course, you can tune in to our broadcast every evening at 9:30 p.m. on NPO2. 

As of January 1, 2025, the editorial team atNieuwsuuris looking for an:Online Journalist / Camjo (m/f/x)36 hours per week 

Here's what you'll be doing:

• As a camjo, you’ll serve as director, gaffer, camera operator, and sound technician—and occasionally as an interviewer and editor—for our in-depth journalistic productions;  
• You are the creative hub of the Nieuwsuur video production team;  
• You come up with innovative visual ideas that keep our viewers engaged throughout 20-minute videos, leaving them impressed by the storytelling approach;  
• You’ll be filming reports and interviews using a comprehensive camera setup (FS7II, A7SIII, and a wide range of lighting and camera accessories);  
• You have original ideas for our in-house studio, designed for online productions, to adapt the set to suit any type of story;  
• In our studio and at external locations, you’ll figure out the best ways to film interviews and scenes;  
• You enjoy working with people from a variety of fields: experienced reporters, investigative journalists, designers, data journalists, OSINT specialists, and production colleagues;  
• You edit long videos and manage to surprise viewers with creative edits;  
• Ideally, you also have experience with scripting and creating longer videos. 

This is you:

• You'll find the energy to come up with a creative way to present a challenging topic;  
• You can put your creativity to work in our in-house studio, which is specifically designed for online productions;  
• You have experience in journalism: you have strong content expertise and are well-informed about current events;  
• You work with precision, and even when things get hectic, you remain calm under pressure: you can easily distinguish between what’s important and what isn’t;  
• You prefer to work as part of a team;  
• You are creative and original with visuals; to keep viewers engaged, you devise the right narrative style for the story;  
• You have excellent editing skills, preferably in Avid;  
• You are flexible with your working hours when news events occur. 

Here's what we offer:

A contract through December 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension. Depending on knowledge and experience, this position is compensated within salary grades G and H of the broadcasting collective bargaining agreement. The other terms and conditions of employment also comply with the collective bargaining agreement for broadcasting personnel.
