Research Coordinator for Primary and Secondary Education
Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science
Job Description
Do you know how to access and utilize data, measure progress and impact, and create accessible monitoring reports? Then we’re looking for you. We’re seeking a research coordinator for primary and secondary education. As a research coordinator, you will primarily work on projects funded by the National Growth Fund for K-12 education, but you will also contribute to other policy projects. Will you join us in our efforts to improve the quality of education?
Through the National Growth Fund, the government will invest €20 billion over the next five years in projects that promote long-term economic growth. The Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science has submitted several project proposals to the National Growth Fund, which have been approved for funding. These proposals cover various policy areas of the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science, including K-12 education. Currently, four primary education projects have been approved by the National Growth Fund, and there is an opportunity to submit new projects in the National Growth Fund’s third project round. Both within and outside the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science, intensive efforts are now underway to further operationalize the approved projects and to further develop any new project proposals.
As a research coordinator, you’ll play an active role in making policies measurable and ensuring they’re monitored and evaluated. You’ll do this both in relation to the Growth Fund and other policy initiatives. This means that no two days are the same. One hour you might be contributing ideas on the security of schools’ digital infrastructure. The next hour, you’ll be helping colleagues figure out how to keep track of the learning and improvement culture in schools or advising on a research project regarding equal opportunity. You’ll serve as a go-to resource for the policy teams. This will quickly give you a broad understanding of the policies developed at the Directorate-General for Primary and Secondary Education. You’ll be closely involved in the more strategic and multi-year planning and evaluation of our policies. In addition, you contribute ideas on how we can make smarter use of all the figures and data at our disposal. To this end, you maintain close contact with colleagues, for example at the Knowledge Directorate and/or DUO.
You’ll be part of the Data Policy, Research Coordination, and DUO (DOD) team. As a team, we play a DGPV-wide role and are involved with many projects and stakeholders. Collaboration and connection with other organizations are in our DNA. Colleagues brainstorm together and help one another. The atmosphere is open and collegial.
The DOD team consists of eight staff members in the Department of Education Professionals, School Development, and Digitalization (OSD) within the Secondary Education Division. The team works closely with the two other teams within the department, as well as with colleagues from the Primary Education Division and the Division of Equal Opportunity & Educational Support. Collaboration is a key value within the team.
