We are looking for a:
Climate Transition Researcher within the Climate Affairs Team
(0.8 FTE – 30 hours per week)
What will you be doing?
- You stay up to date on the latest developments in IPCC scenarios and emission reduction pathways (e.g., IEA NZE).
- You will provide substantive input on climate issues related to reduction targets and the phase-out of fossil fuel activities.
- You will advise colleagues on lobbying efforts related to sectoral emission reduction pathways and climate scenarios.
- You will give presentations on Milieudefensie’s climate cases, particularly the lawsuit against ING, and represent the climate cases team at external meetings.
- You will assist with quality checks and oversee internal and external studies, such as the annual Climate Crisis Index (KCI).
What are you bringing?
- You have an academic level of work and thinking and are highly analytical.
- You have proven expertise in the field of climate scenarios and emission reduction pathways, as well as at least 4 years of relevant work experience.
- You are able to build and maintain a network of relevant experts.
- You are proficient in Excel and familiar with processing data from databases.
- You have an excellent command of Dutch and English.
Who do you work with?
As a climate transition researcher, you will be part of the Policy & Advocacy department and a member of the multidisciplinary climate issues team. This team works closely with the lawyers with whom Milieudefensie handles climate cases. In addition, you will work with colleagues within Content & Lobby and with other departments. You will also be in contact with national and international networks of civil society organizations (NGOs) and with scientists.

- A starting salary, depending on your knowledge and experience, ranging from €4,400 to €5,000 for full-time employment. At Milieudefensie, this is a 37.5-hour workweek.
