In short:
Department: Governance of Urban Transitions (GUTs) Knowledge Center
Location: Main Campus
Education level: Ph.D.
Number of hours per week: 32–40
Salary range: min. €5,122.09 – max. €6,698.86 based on full-time employment
What will you be doing?
Over the coming years, our knowledge center will be focusing on the theme of “Living Together Justly.” We will place a specific emphasis on social and democratic participation, while also exploring new forms of collaboration enabled by technology. We aim to establish multi-year partnerships in several neighborhoods across the region, including The Hague Southwest, Delft West, and Zoetermeer. This work will be carried out in collaboration with partners in education and the field.
As a Senior Researcher, you will be versatile across our main research themes. You will conduct independent, practice-oriented research or take on the role of project leader within a larger research team. You will initiate plans for grant applications and contract acquisition (second and third-party funding) and know how to engage relevant internal and external partners in these efforts. You will also be regularly involved in educational activities. You will help strengthen ties with the academic community and play an active role in mentoring students (for example, in projects, internships, and thesis projects).
We work closely with partners from the city, the education sector, and other knowledge institutions. Our research projects are practice-oriented, and we experiment with innovative research methods, such as research through design and the use of urban labs and learning networks. As a Senior Researcher, depending on your expertise and skills, you will work on projects that transcend the boundaries of our five research groups. You will foster collaboration with external partners and help build networks.
About your workplace
The Governance of Urban Transitions (GUTs) Knowledge Center contributes to an inclusive city by conducting research into the challenges that urban change poses for inclusion and governance. You will develop and investigate new forms of (online) collaboration among urban stakeholders to address these challenges. GUTs consists of five research groups: Metropolitan Development, Civic Technology, Public Governance, Youth Services in Transition, and Urban Aging.

- You have a wide range of responsibilities across our main areas of focus.
