Researcher | Climate Policy and Mobility Advisor

What will you be doing?

For many years, CE Delft has been advising national and international stakeholders on ways to reduce the climate impact of the mobility sector. We do this through independent and transparent research projects. Some recent examples include:

• advising the Rotterdam–The Hague Metropolitan Region on ways to reduce the climate impact of mobility within its territory;
• a study on the possibilities for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from work-related travel among small and medium-sized enterprises through an effective policy approach, commissioned by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management;
• the development of a Top 10 list of policy measures to promote the use of shared mobility, commissioned by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management;
• Assessing the costs to employers and employees of a zero-emission fleet standard for company cars for the Dutch Association for Sustainable Energy (NVDE);
• an analysis of several policy measures aimed at facilitating sustainable mobility options for lower-income households, commissioned by Natuur & Milieu;
• the development of Regional Mobility Programs for, among others, North Holland & Flevoland, Utrecht, and Drenthe.

Together with motivated colleagues, you will advise national and regional governments (and possibly also European governments), industry associations, and/or NGOs on current topics such as: zero-emission transportation, the contribution of shared mobility and public transit to a sustainable mobility system, the use of non-fossil fuels, the design of equitable climate policy for the mobility sector, and/or sustainable urban mobility. Depending on your experience and interests, you will focus on topics and types of projects that inspire you. As a senior researcher/advisor, you will acquire new projects and lead project teams that, for example, assess the environmental impacts of measures, conduct technical or policy analyses, or develop tools and models. As a mid-level researcher/advisor, you will contribute to these projects and acquisitions.

Who are you?

• You have knowledge of the mobility sector and are eager to contribute to making that sector more sustainable;
• You have strong analytical skills and good research abilities, which you combine with policy insight;
• You are a team player with a professional and flexible attitude.

What are we looking for?

• You have at least 3 years of relevant experience, and preferably more than 5 years (for example, in a research and consulting environment);
• You have completed a college degree;
• You have a good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written;
• You should preferably have experience leading a project team;
• Ideally, you have the necessary sales skills to secure projects and have a strong network of contacts in the field (or are able to build one quickly).
