The Service Bureau of the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) is seeking anEducationalPolicy Advisor for its Education Department, to start immediately.
What will you be doing?
With your educational expertise, you ensure that policies are practical, forward-looking, and tailored to arts education. You adapt national policies and developments in the field of education to the context of the institution, using insights and needs from the academies as input for AHK-wide policies. At the same time, you ensure compliance with legal frameworks. You collaborate with various colleagues and stakeholders and ensure that policy decisions are concrete, practical, and workable within higher professional education in the arts.
What are you bringing?
- In-depth educational expertise and the ability to translate this into practical and forward-looking policies.
- At least five years of experience in higher education (including the arts) and a solid understanding of the dynamics and complexity of the sector.
- Strong analytical skills that enable you to turn ideas into actionable recommendations that ensure educational innovation and quality.
- A proactive, pragmatic, and collaborative attitude, combined with a sense of ownership and an open approach to teamwork.
- A relevant master’s degree; knowledge of education law is a plus.

The Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) is an arts university that trains students at the associate degree, bachelor’s, and master’s levels for careers in the fields of art, culture, and heritage. Our six academies, which together form the AHK, are located at various sites in the vibrant heart of Amsterdam:
Breitner Academy - Academy of Architecture - Conservatorium van Amsterdam - Netherlands Film Academy - Reinwardt Academy - Academy of Theatre and Dance.
Here's what we offer
We offer you a versatile and dynamic role in a passionate education department within the AHK Service Bureau, consisting of 11 professionals. You’ll be working in an inspiring environment in the heart of Amsterdam. Initially, you’ll be offered a one-year contract with the prospect of a permanent position. The gross monthly salary ranges from a minimum of €4,535.76 to a maximum of €6,359.47 based on full-time employment.
The AHK offers attractive terms of employment in accordance with the collective labor agreement for higher professional education (CAO-HBO), including an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, an ABP pension plan, a generous vacation policy, a generous travel allowance, and opportunities for further education and professional development.
A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is required for this position.
