We are committed to ensuring that our port and surrounding area are safe, healthy, and attractive. We achieve this by operating in a socially responsible manner, creating economic and social value, and fostering sustainable growth.
Does the Port of Rotterdam inspire you? Are you an expert on environmental issues and permits, and would you like to work in a passionate department dedicated to the port’s development? We’d love to meet you!
Department Information
The Permits & Advice department where you will be working is part of the Environmental Management department. It’s a team full of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals, such as Boukje, Maaike, and Gert-Jan. The Environmental Management department exists within the Port Authority to maintain and improve the balance between the port, the surrounding area, and our customers. Within Environmental Management, we address issues related to CO2, nitrogen, noise, land use planning, environmental safety, nature, soil, and accessibility.
Your future department, Permits & Advice, consists of (integrated) environmental consultants and specialists in various environmental topics such as sustainability, soil, explosive remnants of war, noise, nitrogen, environmental safety, and nature. The culture within the department is characterized by mutual connection and a passion for the profession. In addition to Boukje, Maaike, and Gert-Jan, your team includes over 15 other dedicated colleagues.
You’ll be joining a close-knit, hard-working team. Colleagues support one another both professionally and personally. You’ll collaborate frequently, but you’ll also regularly head out together to inspiring locations to brainstorm ideas and unwind. Hybrid work is allowed, but we also enjoy being together in the office on a regular basis.
What will you be doing?
As an Environmental Advisor at the Port of Rotterdam Authority, you’ll be working in a dynamic environment where we’re working hard to drive the energy transition and sustainability. You’ll be right in the thick of things where “it all happens.”
As an Environmental Advisor, you’ll be part of project teams responsible for providing advice on environmental and spatial planning matters. You’ll coordinate this advice with the specialists who are also part of your team.
In addition, you’ll be responsible for:
We believe it is important for you to ensure that various environmental issues are addressed in private-law agreements with our clients. You will also advise our clients on environmental and land-use procedures. In doing so, you will contribute to the “ease of doing business” in the port.
