Squarewise is a self-managing social enterprise. This means we no longer have a board of directors and make decisions collectively based on equality and trust. In this video, you can see how our self-managing organization works. In addition to the projects, you’ll play an active role in Squarewise’s internal organization.

What will you be doing?

As a transition specialist, you will work on a variety of assignments, applying your knowledge and experience to accelerate sustainable transitions. You will operate in a complex and rapidly changing environment and switch quickly between different roles and tasks (such as project manager, stakeholder manager, and strategic contributor). In this role, you can take on the role of project manager (or quickly grow into it). As a project leader, you are responsible for both the planning and the execution and management of a project. This requires vision, collaboration, and leadership. In addition, you contribute to internal and external knowledge sharing and mentor the junior staff you work with.

Examples of tasks include:

• Driving breakthrough projects within a network of circular economy leaders in the construction industry;
• Developing strategies for scaling up sustainable innovations in a province;
• Establishing and facilitating new partnerships between regional housing authorities focused on the energy transition and circular construction.

Who are we looking for?

We’re curious to learn more about you and the skills you’ll bring to Squarewise. Here’s what we expect from you:

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience;
• You are committed to working toward a sustainable and equitable world and share Squarewise’s mission and values;
• You effortlessly translate complex topics into practical and accessible advice;
• You are confident in making your own decisions and have consciously chosen to work in a self-managing team;
• You can express yourself clearly in Dutch, both in writing and verbally .

Experience in the following areas is a plus:

• Demonstrable experience in project management or a project-based role;
• One or more of our themes (the energy transition, the materials transition, the agricultural transition, and the values transition).

What else we offer you:

• You will start with a gross monthly salary between €3,250 and €4,500 based on full-time employment. Your salary will depend on the relevant work experience you bring to the role;
• A one-year contract for at least 32 hours per week, with the possibility of a permanent contract;
• An extensive network of leaders in the sustainability sector;
• We place a strong emphasis on personal growth and professional development. This includes a training budget, a monthly training session, and a training day with the entire team twice a year;
• An NS commuter pass, a laptop, and a Fairphone, plus the flexibility to work from home part of the time.
